"An optimist may see light where there is none, but why must the pessimist always run to blow it out?"
    -Wisdom for the Soul

She approached the gate to the large city in reflective silence, the heavy rain of another coastal storm pounding against her azure cloak. She twisted her wrist and wrinkled the heavy garment tighter around her as she surged ahead, wincing as rain pelted her eyes even under the hood of her robes and the loose articles of clothing whipped and beat against her calves and knees.

Her tracks stopped before the heavy gate, a man bearing crimson armor raised his hand to draw her to a halt, at least here so close to the wall she could relax her posture a hair, the wind buffered by the large structure nearby.

"Identify yourself woman and relieve yourself of the mask." The soldier stated, his voice sounded a distant echo under the howling winds and pounding rain. She produced a damp, rolled up piece of paper first that she had acquired at a southern fort when she entered the country. He took it from her, eyes never leaving her form as she reached up and pulled her mask down to reveal her face, flawless silvery skin and violet lips were crested by bright golden eyes, softly glowing even through the murk of the storm.

Her hands slowly glided down to her forefront, folding harmlessly at her waist. "I'm here to help the alliance of the triad." Her voice was unburdened by her trek through the storm, pushing the white noise of the storm aside with a calm but powerful authority. "My blood and heritage are the knowledge of your governments and armies, but my body and soul are the property of the temples and the Loyal Fury, may I pass?"

The Legionaire looked down across the paper, examining it for imperfections momentarily before he rolled it up and held it back to her. "Welcome to the capital ma'am, I don't care for magic, but we can use every able body, you ain't a vagrant so I'll let you through. Follow the main road till you're through the trade district, the triad's barracks isn't far into the better side of the city." She nods and quickly averts her gaze from the guard, stuffing the papers away into her robes again and masks her face and hair from sight once more. "Here I am..." She whispered aloud, even steps pressing aside mud and pebbles as she carefully weaved through the empty streets. "... Being rocked by a-"

Her feet drew to a stop as she quickly found herself before the barracks, her mind flooded with visions and memories, a hidden smile crossed her features as she inhaled a deep breath, then marched forward. Each step her chest (not breasts) swelled further, her heart beat harder, her brows knit closer. She reached up and pounded thrice on the door, within moments a small woman in a white robe answered. "I'm here to begin my service to the Loyal Fury!" She barked the announcement proudly, the smaller woman was taken aback, then awkwardly pointed down toward the northern entrance. "This is the house of Ilmatar, you want that door."

She deflated, only a little, and slowly whirled on one muddy boot and sauntered toward the next door, slowly her confidence began to build again, and soon, she was marching proudly to her new home, again.
