  • Sile's Resurrection

Sile sits down and heavily sighs. There must be something wrong with her, something she can't understand, something she missed, far beyond her comprehension.

Was that the day, when her booming business in Cimbar went wrong? When all the slaves died because of the plague? Was that the moment, when the misfortune began chasing her, like the angry fox the little rabbit? But how?! Why?! She was so faithful to her Lord! Whenever her hands reached to the promising sacrifice she did so! Without hesitation! Deceiving her victims, gaining their trust and ... letting the fathers murder their sons in the hope, that they are saving the lives of their wives or ... mothers to strangle their husbands in the belief, that she let them go, that the suffering of slavery is gone! None of them escaped! Not a single one! Except the boy ... the one, the only one she let ever go!

Sile sighted again and in a moment of desperation, in a moment of the horror, that she might have failed her beloved God, that Cyric could reject her, HER, she slumped a bit, the tears slowly welling up in her eyes. It must be so, that's why she failed, that's why the other one .. here in Sundren escaped too! It was a reminder of her sin!

Sile slowly laid down the damp floor and wiped her tears. She's on the bottom. That's the punishment, that's why the plague ruined her, that's why every her attempt to begin the new life had failed so quickly that's ... what Cyric had to feel, when she let the boy go, when she TOOK the little elven BRAT from the HANDS of her LORD!

But he did not leave her ... he just ... shows her what it is, to be left alone! After all the blessing of the Lord, the almighty power of the god himself guided her safely all her way .. here!

Sile jumped to her feet pacing up and down her tiny cell, her eyes lighting up with the fire of fanaticism. It took her a long time to realise, that the Lord is her only real lover, that the Lord wants her beside his throne, that the Cyric is with her! Here, now and forever!

Sile crouches by the wall, hoping that the dark shadows of the night will hide her. The dampness of the stones reminds her of the jail. "Earl", she says in a muffled voice, "... Eeeearl", her clenched fists turn white with fury.

The recollection of the brute, who dragged her into her cell being half conscious drives her mad. She turns around and quickly enters the sewers, her way out of the town is close. "Earl ...", says Sile silently to herself with such hatred, that even the mad God himself would envy her. "Eeeearl ... you've just made yourself my number one on the list!", she crushes some clumsy rat with her bared foot, "... Eeeearl!".

As soon as Sile wakes up the terrible pain of her bloodied back strikes with the full power. The soothing world of distant oblivion is gone. And yet something is missing? Sile wearily touches her neck, the pain running across her shoulder-blade towards the
arm, ... a tattoo. The scar is still fresh, she did not forget. She wants to be angry, but can’t. She wants to hate, but can’t. She wants to ... or what does she actually want?

Her mind suddenly calms down. Sile utters a heavy groan as her sister in arms applies the balm and new clean silk bandages. She just needs to sleep and ... say something?

“Thank you ...”, says she quietly being overwhelmed with the pain again, as the world of dreams claims its rule over her. She’s so tired to fight it now.

Sile wearily lays down and the images of her tiresome day begin to dance in front of her closed eyes. It was a very long day.

First she was standing in front of the Sundren City gate waiting for the Hand of Mundus, who obviously forgot about her the same moment, he entered the town. It took him just over thirteen hours, before he spotted her on his way back to Sestra. But Sile didn't mind. It was just long. It didn't rain ... and that is good?

Sile opens her green-ish flask with the very expensive looking and pleasantly fragrant oil she had bought in Acquor. She slowly poors half of its content straight in the warm bath and with the contented expression on her face the second memory flashes out.

The dwarf with the broken arm, whom she saved from the certain dead. He would die up there, mountains are uncompromising judges and they do not take prisoners. He was so happy, when he saw the gates of Acqour. Sile was too? Of course she had to be.

The scent of roses slowly finds its way up to Siles nose and as it enters her nostrils it almost immediately brings up the memory of the gorgeous little flowers, meadows near the Pioneer’s Way and of course ... the other dwarf.

Cart. Dead horse laing by the road. And her pushing the dwarf's possessions all the way down to the Second Wind Inn. Her bandaging his wounds and the little one ... the hafling woman, so petite like ... oh ... the soap.

Sile slowly washes her arms with her little bee-like shaped soap, a gift from her old friend. He gave it to her in Port Avantyr few weeks ago. Avantyr! Siles closes her eyes as the theatre of life, shows her the last scene.

The burden. So heavy and the hafling girl is not helping her at all, but she is so small, she has to be very weak. Sile is not, she can pull the entire load from the Inn down to the harbour. Gods gave her the strength and the little girl, the hafling woman seemed to be so happy just watching Sile. So she must be happy too?

Sile lets the water embrace her. Yes she is. Contended and tired. Tomorrow she’ll sleep a bit longer then usually. She deserves it.
