Tery Mard approaches the abandoned building on Sestra's waterfront. Looking around to make sure he's unwatched, he carefully slips to the far side and unlocks the door at the rear. He descends, passes through the secret door and pulls a small parchment from his pocket.
"Shifty," he says amicably, "this note from Amber needs to be sent back with my reply. I trust you can take care of this for me."
Shifty takes the note and mutters "Nothing but a damn post office," thinking he's unheard.
Tery smiles. "Oh, Shifty," he says. "When I get the coin together, you have a pair of gloves I'd like to purchase. You showed them to me last time. I'll give you a good fair price for them."
Shifty brightens. "Of, course. Come see me when you can. I'll get this letter out right away."
Tery thanks Shifty and returns to his office, again being careful to avoid being seen.
