  • A Petition for Safety (Requires DM Approval)

Horral wanders about Sundren City with a parchment collecting signatures on a petition. The purpose of the petition is simple. It calls for the revocation of all Drow permits, and the removal of Drow from Sundren City, and a more rigid and structured method to be created to approve permits in the future. The reasons given are.

    1. Drow attacks have increased recently in the areas around Sundren.
    2. The Drow attacking have intimate knowledge of the geography and people of the Sundren Valley
    3. At least one of the Drow attacking has been seen mingling with the civilized people of Sundren.
    4. The murderious Drow must be being fed information from within the city, and therefore all Drow must be removed for the safety of the good peoples of Sundren.

He also proposes that in the future, permits be granted after magical scrying to determine the heart of the drow (alignment), and to determine the drow's true reason for being on the surface.

He specifically avoids asking those who are known to be chaotic or drow from signing the petition.

Many people about Sundren have signed the petition. The general populace voices their distaste for Drow and the problems they've brought.

*Horral nods sagely and strokes his beard as he looks the petition over*

Hmm...good good. Something I can take before those responsible for Sundren reflecting the will of the people. Now if I can just figure out the proper protocol exactly, and who I hafta talk to. Maybe over a pint...

*he comes out of the Four Lanterns, his mind a bit clearer*

The Grievences department. Maybe they'd handle this. I'm going to go speak to the captain directly and politely as I can, and point this out to him. The people want the filth out of their city, and it's his job to make it happen right? Better make a few copies of this first though...

*he makes a couple of copies of the petition, and heads off to the grievances department, petition in hand*

((Needs DM approval again and etc etc...))

Alydia'iira hears about this petition and makes an effort to intercept the dwarf.

"Ah yes, so here is the fantastical petitioner I have heard about. Let me ask you some questions and you can answer them for me."

"You clearly assume that the permits are in the wrong hands. Do you have any proof, or are you simply running around rumormongering?"

"Did it ever occur to you that perhaps it is simply the fact that Sundren is not prepared or familiar enough with the drow to know how to counter them? Perhaps even incompetent?"

"Do you have any idea how little use they make of their willing, expert sources of information on the subject, drow like myself?"

"Do you think it might be better for Sundren to enforce its permit laws instead of ignoring them, letting unknown drow run through their military camps ,unmolested in plain view?"

"Did you know that you can count the number of permits issued on a single hand?"

"Has it ever occured to you that if there are spies from within, they may well not even be drow themselves?"

"Do you really underestimate the abilities of the drow so much that you expect some law to stop them from running around your cities invisibly or using other means of foiling detection?"

"Are you really that foolish to believe that tossing out the few drow with permits will change anything whatsoever?"

"Finally, what is it you have against me? Your poorly worded, poorly thought out petition only serves to drum up intolerance, ignorance, and hate towards me, and other drow who do not deserve it."

Alydia'iira waits patiently for his answers, hoping to pound some logic into him.

Dalon walks the city streets, whistling a light tune as a cool breeze sweeps through his blonde locks. He pauses, arcing a brow as he takes in a drow rapidly questioning a dwarf...ah, the dwarf petitioning for the removal of the drow. He casually strolls up to their conversation, producing his own quill and ink.

"If you'd both excuse me a moment..."

Dalon adds his name to the bottom of Horral's list in a neat, cursive script. He stows his writing elements and offers the drow a wink before turning away, resuming his jaunt down the street with a renewed spring in his step, an even lighter tint to his whistled tune.
          Mirumoto Akagi: What is dance?
Dalon Arogard: It's this. *busts a move*
          Llew Hy: A strange compulsion...
Mirumoto Akagi: I suppose you can dance if you like, but you're leaving our friends behind, and they're not dancing.
Dalon Arogard: Then they're no friends of mine.

*eyes Aly up and down slowly, and answers carefully, his words controlled*

First off miss, I don't have any problem with ye personally, and I ain't going to answer all your questions at once. Let me put this as simply as possible. Yes I have witnessed that drow that many consider "civilized" are joining in the slaughter. I do not have any material proof, besides the memories and scars that I bear from fighting them.

This petition is being made to have the current permits revoked, and reissued publicly after a much more rigorious screening process. It should include magically checking the hearts and minds of those who seek a permit, and the permit being granted only in extreme cases. Then it should be made known publicly, and posted, who the drow are who have permits, so we might fight the ones that infiltrate without one.

            *he lowers his voice*

In addition miss, it's obvious just by lookin at this petition that the people of this city don't want ye here. To preserve order in the city, and keep lynch mobs from formin, something needs to be done. Now if you will please excuse me, I have business to attend to.

*he pushes past the drow, accidentally bumping her with his shoulder as he goes*

"Well that went as I expected. Go on, dwarf, keep spreading your panic, your lies. You think you have answers, yet you do not really understand. If you ever want to understand, I am here, at least until the mob YOU incite comes after me."

Alydia'iira then does her best to counter the mob by starting up a happy, catchy tune and marching through town, singing and playing her lute, and smiling to everyone she passes.

"Friggin' Drow! Pwah!", a nearby commoner mutters to his friend, " 'Taint no way ter 'elp their plight, runnin' off their mouths 'round 'ere."
"Aye.", his friend responds, hands in pockets and eyes firmly locked upon the Drow bard, "Sure charismatic, that'n. Better'n some o' them politicians upstairs, but."
                "Mmh."

Sylivia raises an eyebrow at the news of a petition to remove drows. The dwarf first starts screaming nonsense about indecency and the diamond in the auction, now he wants to get rid of the drow who are innocent? Hopefully the people of Sundren will have enough sense not to sign it...

Bishop looks sternly at the petition. "The drow should not be welcome in our lands, time and time again they have caused nothing but trouble for the humble people of Sundren."

Bishop signs the petition as does most of the resident Helmites and Triumvirates in the city.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

A white haired half elven figure in heavy armour can be seen gazing at the petition.

He shakes his head sadly and writes a note of his own that he pins beside the petition.

'It is not enough that the Drow of ill intent be removed from your cities. They will simply walk amongst you invisible, watching you from the shadows and paying the unscrupulous to spy for them. For whilst many fear the Drow, the lure of gold and items of magic that only they can provide is a strong one.

The war must be taken to them if Sundren is ever to know peace. I would propose that the ban be extended to all the lands of Sundren, not merely the cities and that a task force be set up to hunt the Drow. This task force I will arrange should it be the will of the people of Sundren.

I approve of the idea of magical scrying of the hearts and minds of all Drow for in order to defeat the evil that is the Drow the good in them, and there is a little, should been discovered and nurtured. In doing this we turn their own strength against them. If we do not do this they will merely retreat to their caverns beneath and plot acts of terror which they will carry out under cover of night and the war will be never ending.'

The Note is then signed simply

                      'Naial Alastrarra'

The petition is then signed and the figure walks away.
Heed me thou who are darker than dusk.
Heed me thou more red than blood.
Through the passing of the mists of time I call to thee, swear myself to thee.
Let thy great power be known to all the fools who stand opposed
Merge your strength and mine! Deliver doom to all of them equally....

                        An Orcs view

Striding down the street the Orc stops and stares at the parchement that carries many signatures...
Scratching his head he gazes at the wordings (many of which the meaning is beyond him).

"Vurg no have fight wiv drow... Vurg fight anywun who fights Vurg...
Vurg tinks dis will be trouble for the people of Sundren"
Grinnning he carries his flail into the wilderness...
"Vurg best train for the fight to come"

With that the parchment is left hanging, a list perhaps of all those who will feel the wrath of the Drow...
Vale Maliktus general do gooder and defender of the peoples of Sundren (lol)

Finally, after gathering a majority of signatures from the populace, the triumverate, helmites, and many adventurerers of many races, Horral looks over the petition, and hands it over to the lawmakers of Sundren. Enclosed with the massive list of names is a letter.

                          "To whom it may concern,

Greetings and well met. I hope you do not mind, but I have taken the liberty of gathering the will of the people into this document for you. It has been shown to me in my time here that the people of your fair city are sick and tired of the Drow running rampant in it. I submit this petition to you as proof.

I humbly ask that the drow permits be revoked, and only reissued to the drow that wish it after a very intense screening process involving probing into the heart and the mind. I also request that the law be changed that any drow with permits have it made publicly known so they are not harassed in Sundren territory. Furthermore, I request that adventurers and any citizens who wish be allowed to kill drow on sight, as they are a menace to society

                          Thank you very much,

                          Horral of the Redmountain Clan
