Times are frantic, and the land is suffering under constant threat from seemingly every side. Word is spreading fast through the valley in ways that vary from word of mouth to divination spells enabling telepathic bonds. Some of the current rumors about that mingling individuals may have heard about, from one source or another:
* The Pioneer's Way has become nearly lawless beyond the immediate reach of the Gate of the Sunderer. Various travelers are telling tales of more frequent and larger bandit attacks - as well as more sinister things. Skeletons, zombies, and the darkest fear of all: the first reports of Bloodmaim scout runners and berserkers. Blackwood Mercenaries have been hired and stationed outside the Second Wind Inn, but no one is really sure if that will be enough against the red orc menace.
* The constant attacks on caravans have strained the market on basic goods and simple mage components. More than one arcanist has been heard complaining about the lack of indigo leaves, diamond dust, bat guano, and other simple products that are more plentiful in cities outside of the valley.
* The mountain paths near Aquor have been cast under some sort of almost palpable aura of dread. Word has trickled back from the Caravans and even the new Temple of the Morninglord that some dark things took place up there. Rumor has it that it involved dark sacrifices and demon magic, and what that could mean seems like the stuff old wives tales are made of.
* An influx of refugees arriving at the city gates seems to have made quite a sight. Even more than usual, the squat tents and downtrodden peasants that can't make it past the city watch seem to be congregating and voicing everything from confusion and discontent to utter hopelessness. The travelers staying at the Four Lantern's Inn should be especially watchful for pickpockets and other desperate thievery in these trying times.
