    Chapter 1: A Reflection

"Many times it seems we lose ourselves in the moment. Some lose themselves to a good song, or a great show. But it is when we lose ourselves to reflect upon our actions, and whether they are right or wrong, is when we have the potential and capacity to improve. Making the right decisions in life is extremely difficult. So I challenge thee adventurer, next time ye face a difficult decision, try choosing the harder path. For that choice is always the right choice."

    ~Caledan Moonshadow

Wind through my hair, gently flowing streams beneath my feet; rays of sun pierce the rough canopy of the trees of Viridale, sparkling majestically upon the water surface. Oh the smell of pine and oak doth remind me so much of home. This place...this...Sundren...is so new yet so old. From the withered stones that make up its gates and the polished wooden doors of the city buildings, it is quite hard to direct whether the source of architecture is dwarven, elven, or man.

I have wandered far from my home. Roamed the lonely trails and roads for hundreds of miles. Never have I set foot within an inn or tavern and stayed long enough for a drink. The hustle and bustle of city life with drunken sailors and filthy wenches were never to my liking. The open road beckons my name. And I listen. For there my heart lies - in the wilds with the trees, animals, grass, and stars. T'is a life of solitude, loneliness, and much peace.

My story, oh traveler, is a long one. Today, I am but a ranger who wanders the lands. I seek the occasional meal or bath, but not much more. Earning coin is difficult, but I manage to get by. Mercenary work does have it's rewards. To say that life is simple is a most erred and inaccurate statment. T'is a most trialing and difficult journey, it always has been. The road behind me has been so long, so far. But the path ahead is even longer.

As I reflect upon my life now, I will say it is far from easy. My past ye question? I would have to laugh at the thought. Yes it is dark. Yes it is long. And yes, it tells a great story over a campfire. But who's isn't in these times? Seems every other adventurer ye meet is the long lost son of Lathander himself. What makes me different then? Why does my particular story stand out amongst the others? What then, makes it worth hearing? Are ye sure ye want to know? If ye can tolerate me, that is, then perhaps I will tell thee. But not now. Because right now, I fear I cannot stay. For ye see, the road beckons to me once more...
