  • Begin with the End in Mind

On a small, cobblestone side street of Port Avanthyr, a non-descript tent is erected on a rented plot. It stands about ten feet in the air, though is not firmly constructed. Under its meager shelter is a large sawhorse and various woodworking tools. A variety of non-magical religious symbols are displayed on the ground along one side, as though one could window shop for his god. And in the back, three simple, empty coffins lean against the wall of the adjacent shop.

A simple sign dangles from the front of the tent: "Free Measurements."

By day, the shanty is run by a young man of Kara-Tur lineage. He wears warm but simple clothes. He seems very content with his work, offering a smile to any who investigate. For those bringing actual business, he offers consolation and understanding of one who has dealt with death for many years.

The compassion he shares must make up for his poor craftsmanship. The coffins are simple in design, but functional. Few are even stained.

Close inspection would find a symbol of Kelemvor dangling from the sawhorse by a leather thread. It seems like an afterthought - discarded and useless in the practical environment of carpentry.

(( To the DM staff: This is in response to the Character Request. I hope I didn't take too many liberties, and will gladly pay whatever is necessary to set up such a shop. ))
