  • Following a Temple's Destruction.

Corps de Grace Directeur stands on an elevated platform in front of the now ruined Temple of Kelemvor, clad in his usual exquisite full plate, besides many of his Corps Guardsmen -- including some well-known people such as Johanna Patson and Peregrin Hedgermidt. Before them stands a crowd, the group of civilians called to collect around the Temple a day after the building was set to burn.

"As each person can obviously see behind me, the Temple dedicated to Kelemvor is now in ruins. The men and women dedicated to serving their God, as well as serving each and every one of you have left. Some seem to have lost their connection to their god, but not their faith to their Lord even during these times. Still, they set their own temple aflame for each of you, as their last service to all Sestrans."

"I had, and still do, consider many of them as friends; for several times they've been some of Sestra's greatest of allies - protecting us against attacks, saving the lives of the people. And even bringing some back to life. But to some people from last night's mob, that wasn't enough. It wasn't enough that they've helped out countless times. So the mob came here ready to destroy, to harm. Giving in to fear and betraying the very people that dedicated their lives to each of you. They were spat in the face, they were attacked - each person that stood against them should be ashamed."

"What more of morality, dignity, humanity will be discarded to appease Myrkul? If Myrkul demands you give up your children next week, will you do so? What more betrayals, crimes, and freedoms will you give up to appease a Dark God?"

"And many seem to have forgotten, but more than Myrkul watches over us. A number of Goddesses and Gods that have taken notice of our actions - the Benevolent Greater Powers which wouldn't rule over you by fear. It's a duty of the people to remain true to themselves and those deities, even when another threatens you. I can only hope that all of you can find the courage in your hearts to do what is right, rather than take the dark path. A dark lonely path where you're left with nothing but an empty existence enslaved by cruel Gods."

Finally Cirion's speech comes to a halt. His gaze slowly gliding over the crowd, taking in their reactions to his words. And for a while, he lingers at his spot. But finally the man steps down and orders the militiamen to either dismiss the crowd, or allow them to pay their respects to Kelemvor and sacrifices made by the Kelemvorite followers.

Rastellia stands more or less silently in the back of the crowd as Cirion speaks to the people of Sestra. She nods and agrees quietly with each and every point made by the Corps de Grace leader. As Cirion steps down she invites anyone who wishes to pay their respects to the Kelemvor and the god's followers with her.

"Come with me, people of Sestra. Their sacrifices and services were for all of us. Instead of turning on the very people who have given us so much since the Lizard War, let us show a proper thankfulness for what they've done."

She carries several wreaths adorned with Kelemvor's symbol and lays them about the ruins and leads any who would accompany her in songs of prayer and praise to the god. When finished she asks for volunteers to assist with cleaning up the grounds.

Rastellia works diligently over the course of several days with any Sestrans (or anyone who wants to lend a hand) clearing what rubble can be moved from the burned temple.

Locke stands about, watching the efforts with a small smile.

"Isn't it amazing how it's not just people who can be a bastard in life, then suddenly a saint in their death." He mutters to himself.
Lorlen Locke: "Amazing how the righteous commit acts of tyranny and terror almost as beautiful as our own under their banner of "good". We merely call a spade a spade."

"If you can't learn to do something well, learn to enjoy doing it poorly."
