    Chapter One -
    The path from Evereska -

Silence was there. The sound of the forest wasn't even a comfort to her, she could still sense the silence in the back of her mind, awaiting for the precise moment when her keen elven ears would pick up the slightest hint of noise. The full moon showered its radiant light down on her face for only a moment allowing her green eyes to glisten as would jade gemstones before she slipped back into the shadow of the tree, and into the brush. She was waiting. And for so long now. For him, the one she had sought for countless moons.

Rustling in the distance... she knocked an arrow quickly, her eyes focused on the direction of the noise. The sound of something coming quickly, closer and closer... she held her breath. Snap! Swoosh! The leaves of the shrubbery from her hiding spot swirled as a coal-cloaked figure flew by. A quickly whispered spell caused the tip of the arrow to glow blue with a sparkling trail just before it flew into the air towards the man. He spun quickly, stopping dead in his tracks. He caught the arrow mid-air, mere inches from his face. The magic on the arrowhead dissipated and as he looked for the spot from whence the arrow came, his amber eyes flashed a glowing red.

Evereska DR 1359. During the Godswar many of the elves of the outlying cities moved closer in to the central towers, to better protect themselves. Magic, both Arcane and Divine was of little or no use at all, and so those who could wield weapons were quickly called into action to defend the city-state... for the people. Though she herself was not one of these brave defenders Jianah had her own role.

Born into one of the noble elven houses of Evereska - Shazhaal she and the rest of her family were renown for their innate curative abilities. Supposedly the entire House had attained the graces of one or more of the Seldarine, and in turn they vowed to use their abilities to their extent - Helping and aiding their people. Though it is possible that the restorative nature of their powers is what allowed them to become a noble house in the first place there is no documentation that states which happened first. Though her entire family possessed these powerful near-cleric like abilities Jianah and her sister were different. They never explained how or why their powers took on different forms, though most suspected that the Seldarine had other things in mind for them. Jianah herself declared that her and her sisters powers were greater than the rest of the families and that she had adapted them to use offensively, and defensively as well.

During the Godswar, seeing as how all magic divine and arcane was in flux and disarray the Shazhaal House did lose some of its respect, though they took a more direct approach to healing, with herbs, salves and wrappings. Jianah learned this and more... she did not want to just be another scholarly elf... while she still had a great deal of respect for herself and her people. It is possibly out of this respect that she did take up archery training during the Godswar, and while she didn't exactly excel at it at first she did continue on until she was satisfied with the outcome.

After the Godswar had ended, many of the gods decided to become less aloof and pay more attention to the matters of mortals, a closer look into the lives of their followers. Having trained with basic weaponry and archery Jianah had also regained her divine powers as well, allowing for her to become even more formidable than before. Merely a month after magic had been restored predictions of Seers, Sages, and Elven Prophets were coming into light. Small groups of elves and eladrin were hand picked and sent out on secretive missions by the High Elders, even Duirsar himself. Jianah was one such chosen, she and a Sword of Evereska by the name of Lamithel were chosen to work together by one of the Feywardens in higher standing. Their mission was to foil the plot of one of the Bhaalspawn that had escaped the slaughter of Saradush and absorbed more than his fair share of divine essence during his stay there. Apparently he had his eyes set upon Evereska's mythal as a possible source of power to slay the remaining Bhaalspawn and ascend into godhood. It was through the Feywarden Brynal's wife Miiera that the vision was seen so clearly, it had not been her first and doubtful to be her last. - Confirming directives from the High Elders they set out on their mission.

It was dusk. A light rain-like mist thickened the air and darkend the sky further. Jiana looked towards Lamithel with obvious appraisal before she opened her mouth to speak. He glimpsed at her as she drew breath only to stop short and widen his eyes in a mixture of frightful amazement.

She glanced him over, straightening her back slightly and pursing her lips before she spoke in elven tongue. "What is it? You do not even know what I was going to say."
He then smirked playfully, and lifted his sword aiming it at her... no, behind her. She turned her head and the look he had once before appeared on her face now.
Two very large sycamore trees were headed straight for them. Everyone had heard rumors of the treants of Cormyr had fled to Evereska seeking sanctuary and respite during the Godswar, though they were rare and not often seen... and yet here were two.

Jianah relaxed slightly, calmly walking towards her white and gray steed and checking the small packs on him all the while keeping an eye on the trees as their thundering movements moved closer to the city. They approached rather quickly, especially for trees. The darker barked one moved the closest to them, speaking Common in a lower toned rumbling voice "You are ones guidance needed?". Jianah glanced back to Lamithel for a moment and then to the more lightly colored treant which stayed closer to the treeline before speaking. "Yes, indeed we are Great One. Can you take us safely to the outskirts?"

Lamithel had now also mounted his rust colored steed and rode up next to Jianah. The treant didn't speak again for the length of the excursion out and though they did pass by a few of the banshee undergrounds, they weren't bothered much at all... most likely because of their escort. Lamithel and Jianah turned behind them at the same time to thank the treants for their guidance... however even with their low-light vision they could not even see where the trees had went, they glanced wearily at each other but then the situation became far less serious as Lamithel began to laugh. Jianah had almost forgotten to be easygoing what with the importance of their mission, she merely smirked at him and they road off into the west.
