Name: Hurin Leonson
Race: Human
Initial Alignment: Lawful Good
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 220
Age: 22
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Black
Deity: Kelemvor
Base Class & Proposed Development: Cleric / Doomguide
Background:
Hurin was born in Mordulkin, Chessenta to a family of moderately successful merchants. However, as common for many adventurers, tragedy struck his family during his young childhood. At age five, his mother, Reah Leonson, disappeared without a trace. His distraught father, Ray Leonson, began to lose his mind with grief. Six months after, the Ray Leonson began to insist his wife was returning to him each night and tapping on the window of the family’s loft without regard for the fact that the family dwelled on the third story.
Sympathetic members of the Waukeen clergy intervened on Hurin’s behalf and sequestered him away from his father until his father was cured of his madness. Sadly, Ray Leonson was found dead a few weeks after. A further tragedy, the Leonson family fortune had evidently been squandered during the patron’s madness, and Hurin was put to the street.
Fortunately, Hurin’s stay on the street was short. A Doomguide by the name of Eric Gelsen found the young boy and carefully explained a terrible truth to young Hurin.
Ray Leonson had not been mad.
Reah Leonson had been tapping at the window of the Leonson home, and she was able to achieve this feat by virtue of her new state of being. She had been afflicted with vampirism.
Eric went on to further explain how he had examined Ray Leonson’s remains and confirmed he had been victim to an attack by a vampire. Dutifully, the doomguide had purified the remains of Ray Leonson and pursued Reah Leonson, ultimately locating her lair and that of the creature who had cursed her. Both, he dispatched in the name of Kelemvor.
Young Hurin took this news the same as any child, but fortunately with the aid of a Doomguide, he was able to positively channel his grief. Eric Gelsen adopted Hurin and educated him in the religion of Kelemvor. Upon coming of age,
displayed a fervor for the dogma of Kelemvor and a hatred of the undead that eventually caused him to be indoctrinated into the clergy.
Studying under Eric Gelsen, Hurin took naturally to channeling the divine will of Kelemvor. At the age of 20, Eric Gelsen deemed Hurin Leonson capable to pilgrimage and tasked Hurin to travel to the lands of Sundren where reports of undeath continued to grow in frequency.
The next two years, Hurin Leonson traveled as a pilgrim of Kelemvor and dispatched a variety of the more common and less dangerous Undead he encountered on his path as well as providing the basic grief counseling expected of a cleric of Kelemvor.
Upon arriving in Hurin lands, Hurin continued his pilgrimage to the Temple of Kelemvor in Sestra where his story continues.
Personality Profile:
Hurin Leonson learned to cope with loss at a very early age. Consequently, he has become a very well adjusted individual and seeks to spread this to others. He walks the two paths expected of the Kelemvor clergy with equality, spending equal amounts of time performing funeral rites and grief counseling as he does seeking out and destroying the Undead of which he possesses a cool albeit fanatical hatred.
He will in no shape or form suffer the existence of the undead. He is not prone to witch hunts, but he will see to the immediate prosecution of anyone proven to create the undead. If someone is found to be harboring a creature of undeath, he will not directly seek the individual’s death, but if that individual gets in the way of the destruction of the undead, the individual is seen as an acceptable loss.
Beyond the religious duties, Hurin Leonson is a friendly individual with a few in-tolerances. He dislikes the reckless use of magic and is quick to announce his opinion on the matter. Further, he is not particularly fond of individuals who seek to spread chaos as he adheres to a more orderly perspective on how communities should function.
Goals:
Hurin Leonson seeks to become a doomguide and carry all duties expected of such to the full extent. Further, he wishes to help expand the following of Kelemvor within Sundren and help arm the citizens of Sundren with the knowledge necessary to detect and deal with the Undead.
