A rather shaggy wanderer with black hair and beard both streaked with grey has appeared in Sundren recently. The man seems to be fond of brown and green colours that blend well into forest foliage, though his clothes are pretty travel-worn. He is not very forthcoming about his origins, but for those who have met him it is a safe assumption that they would be found in some valley or forest rather than a city: he prefers to keep a distance to other people and usually appears rather wary of his surroundings, but he does speak occasionally. Whenever he does, his voice is hoarse and rasping, and sometimes hitches on the odd consonant.

He has been seen several times asking other travelers whether they have met or know of a rather tall woman with black hair, blue eyes and a charming smile who knows how to handle a sword. When asked about her name, he gives it as 'Chani'.
