  • Two for One Special

A violent storm brews over Sundren. It comes in quickly, sending folks scrambling for cover from the wind and rain.

Inside the Red Blades headquarters, the candles flicker oddly. Thunder crackles outside, and each passing strike seems to echo ominously. Suddenly, the doors burst open. A gust of ill-wind blows through the rooms, snuffing every single candle. There is no light. A voice speaks:

"The government you support is weak and traitorous. They slay innocents in the name of good. Blindly, you support them. You, so eager to bathe your blades in blood, join them without thought. But there is consequence.

For every one of us that falls, two of yours shall follow. You cannot protect the people with such weak leaders and traitorous soldiers. We hold you accountable for their deaths."

A bolt of lightning cracks across the sky, illuminating the front door briefly. A black silhouette is seen in the doorway for a moment. With expert speed, an avenger flicks a dagger at the doorway. A brief hiss is heard and blood splatters the floor--but the dark being disappears.

Silence fills the room for what seems an eternity. Everyone is on alert: weapons drawn and eyes flicking quickly from corner to corner.

The silence is broken by two thuds on the roof. They are heavy sounds, but softened, as though great pumpkins had been thrown at building. A defender rushes out to investigate. He surveys the streeth, then turns back to his building. His eyes trail upwards.

"In the name of the Red Knight! What have we done?!," he exclaims.

A man and a woman are draped over the corners of the roof. The man is impaled by one of the ornamental spikes on the rooftop; the woman, bent awkwardly and broken, her legs over the front of the building. Their skin is broken open and blood coats the stone around them for many meters, as though they had fallen from a great distance.

The storm passes soon, and the Red Blades scramble to secure the area.
