Banner Capture Outline
For now, these banners are in hostile locations. Banners are staked out in the heart of hostile enemy bases -- not player-controlled factions, but ogre caves and orc forts. Defendable faction locations will come down the road, but this system is not intended to pit much faction vs. faction conflict.
Try not to think of it like "capture the flag" as a game. It's a morale boost and a demonstration of strength to break into the enemy fortress, pull down their flag, and display it at your headquarters. It tells the people that you're strong enough to route the enemy. It boosts your reputation score.
There are two areas that mix hostile areas with faction defense: Veritas and Cartel territory. While some patriotic gung-ho types might go after someone who took down their flag, it is only a flag. It's not like TFC2, where you must go all out to stop the flag from being captured. The focus would be on stopping the invasion in most cases, not on getting back your flag.
With that in mind, we WILL have a better system down the road for situations like this where you are defending a faction-controlled area. For now, if you're Cartel or Veritas, have fun with it. You can try to defend your flag, but envision it as defending your base instead. There won't be much support for regaining flags until we address a new faction v. faction system down the road.
Banners are located in the Viridale villages, Cartel territory, Slitherscale caves, Necropolis territory, Shekinessi caves, Veritas fortress, Bloodmaim fortress, and Argyle Keep. They are only of value to characters IN a faction.
Any number of factioned characters can capture a single flag, but you can only capture one flag every two hours or so. Additionally, you cannot trade or drop flags, nor can you carry more than one at a time.
Return the flags to your main faction's HQ, not your subfaction. I may add more support for this down the road, but for now, only the Church of Helm, Thayan Enclave steps, Gate of the Sunderer, Cartel hideaway, Druid Glade, Nexus, and Exigo Trading Post are capture points. They are redeemable for 10 - 40 rep points.
Enjoy! There WILL be lots more to come. Our focus will be faction vs. faction in the coming months, but we need to implement join quests for all our factions first.
