What he did was definitely brave, but from another angle it was also irresponsible. He could have killed the patient with his stubbornness.

If there was absolutely no-one who could have taken over his work during that operation then he made the right call. If there was, however... playing with your life is one thing, but one just shouldn't do that with another's. The actual outcome, while fortunate, is irrelevant in judging his actions. Despite what his motivations might have been. Calling him a hero might be a bit presumptuous without knowing the circumstances.

        Wow Kael, way to buzzkill.

Kidding! I agree to some extent. When it is someone else's life, taking such gambles is not exactly the responsible move.

I don't!! What if the patient was under critical conditions and there where no other surgeon's or certified individuals within a fifty mile radius, what this man did was heroic, he suffered through his own pain to save another's unstable life from a dreadful tumor!

Well its hard to say one way or the other if his actions were irresponsible... Had the article been a bit meatier in the facts department it would of been easier to pass judgment . That being said in this instance I think I'll stick with hero unless more information comes to light that says otherwise ;P.

Kaeldorn smells like a deontologist. Anks, you smell like a consequentialist.

He is no hero, he just did his job like he has sworn to do.

cant bravery and bloodymindedness go hand in hand?

It could have ended badly but it didnt, thats what we should be thankful for!
