    "Your CD key is already in use on that server"

    Problem in short is I can't log in to the server and thats the reason I keep getting.

    Any of you familiar with this issue?

    It most likely some gamespy related bug that I encountered first with some other server I played on for mere one day till I got this message when I tried to log in.
    Now I get this message even with Sundren. So now it's a real problem and I need to get it solved asap.

    Actually it should solve itself after a few minutes. I've had it happen before and it always went away if you jsut wait 10 or 15 minutes without trying to log onto Gamespy

      Will see.. I just spent the whole day once regulary trying to log in to this other server with no succes.
      The server seems to be offline atm so I can't check if I'm able to log in now.

      Just tried to log in to Sundren today and encountered this one again so I desided to ask about it.

      Edit: Tried to log in to Sundren and it's been over 30 min, but the result was the same as I expected..

        Is there a chance that someone else is using the same CD key as you?
        Are you able to log onto other servers, but just not Sundren?

          It's possible that something's stuck in your registry somewhere. I'll say it again... if all else fails, try a complete re-install. It's not guaranteed to solve all your problems, but with NWN I've found it often does.

          You might want to wait with that until trying again tomorrow though. It could simply be something hanging on Gamespy's side.

            Well no one has seen my keys for that I'm sure. Why it's even possible to use same key with multiple accounts?
            Shouldn't the key lock to one account till it's removed by the user..

            Anyway it's not that since I was able to log in Sundren while I couldn't log to another.

            Haven't tried to reinstall yet, but I will if the problem isn't soon solved by any other means.

              If you crash IG some times it takes a bit for a server to purge the charactor. So it sees your key in use even though you are not IG. After a time out of the charactor or a server reset you should get in just fine.

              I remeber such a thing in nwn1. Which would explain you could not log into sundren while you could log into say Monkey island. Until sundren gets ride of your ghost you will not be able to log in.

                The catch here is that I didn't chrash the last time I was in.
                Even server reboot wont solve this problem.

                  The key isn't locked to your player account - you can log in with other player names on the same key - the only restriction is it must be only once at any given time. The registration of your key with bioware is only for convenience.

                  Perhaps by some freak chance your key got duplicated by some keygen out there? Or some person got accesss to your bioware account (if you registered them there) and stole them?

                  Also, is there more than one computer running on your house network? Sometimes GS gets confused by that.

                  I'm not sure a clean reinstall can fix it if none of the above are happening. I suppose it's worth a try.

                    And of course, did you get your game second hand?

                    I'm sure some sneaky people out there buy games, take the key, make an image of the disc, and then return them to the shop for a full refund, or possibly just sell it back to them as a second hand game?

                      Once I discussed with people which had the same CD-Keys. Their games were from the same shop and in final they found out that a couple of games got the same CD-Keys accidentally. At the and they received the new CD-Keys.

                        Well a key locking to one account till removed would be better in my opinion, but maybe thatts just me..

                        There is two computers running through a firewall/router in our hosehold and these problems sure did apperar
                        after I got it, but I also got SoZ before this problem arised.

                        I still haven't had this sort of problem with NWN 1, and I do play that a lot more than NWN 2.

                        The copies of mine are all retail and from trustworthy stores, not some secondhand stuff from a friend's friend..

                        I still think it could be some sort of bug.

                        Edit: I'm glad to infrom I just managed to get in when I tried. So the cause remains as a mystery for now.
