Two high end sli cards requires a good power supply I would suggest 850wat.

4gigs is fine in regular windows xp just realise it will see 3.8gig.

Still digg'n the antec case I saw with a big fan in the top very roomie.

64bit os? are you going to run some special software to take advantage of it? so far my experience with windows xp 64 is like windows NT. If the hardware specs do not match the list of stuff with drivers forget it.

Only two things I would like to do to my rig and upgrade to 2 more gigs of ram and two 8800gts video cards would be about it.

Even if they were running SLi with 9800GTs you would not need a 850 watt PSU, 500 is fine.

32 bit windows will see 3GB because it runs out of addressing space, there's nothing wrong with 64 bit Vista / Windows 7... In fact I would recommend it over 32 bit, especially if you have lots of memory.

Oh and no one should use Windows XP 64 bit, it was more like a testbed platform for 64 bit Vista which is far superior.

I'm currently running 32-bit Vista which was given to me by the aforementioned friend when he upped to a 64 system.

Since this will be bought bit-by-bit, I won't be running dual video cards until my next big rebuild/upgrade. The second card is to go into the other computer.

It's not the wattage that was delaying me, it was finding a 500+W PSU that had enough Amps (24 amps for the 9800GT, 28 amps for SLI), which I found a Corsair VX550W 550W power supply - SLI-Ready (+12V rail = 41A), SATA-Ready, and 80Plus.

I figured if I was going to upgrade my processor, might as well upgrade to 64 as well, hence my previous mentions of 4 gigs of ram. Since my fiance will still be running a 32-bit system, I may just give him one of the 2 gig sticks so we each have 3 gigs right away, before I get the rest of the parts.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

If you actually plan to use the SLI or Crossfire features, you'll want to get a 700W+ PSU. Just so you know, however, you don't need a SLI or Crossfire configuration to run NWN2 efficiently at high settings, just a good video card.

I get 3.5GB with my current system. It depends on your board and maybe on your GFX card and other cards you use because their PCI(e) address space is mapped into RAM somewhere between 3 and 4GB.

So far i have seen values between just 3GB and 3.5GB. But unless you don't know any detailed information about your board you should't hope to see much more than the 3GB with a 32bit system.

I have a 680w power supply & my X1900XTX PE takes 350 of that on its own.

Beast of a card! Its a fine antique

I saw a guy at a boy scout meeting today that had a freezer compressor hooked up to his processor. He claimed it was the 4th fastest Celeron in the world.
His video card had custom heat sinks also. Funny thing was the computer was only for racing, not to gaming.
