Okay so every time anyone that i see runs into another character or sees a character in the same area as them it immediately must become a conversation and introduction, even if your characters haven't ever met. Some people get mad if you just happen to walk by without comment. Okay now for my thought on this. This makes sense in the wilderness where people would be scarce, but in a city where there are supposed to be crowds and a lot a of people. what excuse would they have to talk? just because they're the only people you see doesn't mean that they're the only people who are supposed to be there. right? anyways i was just bored and curious for people's input on this.

Yeah, as an arrogant wizard, I don't bother to introduce myself unless there seems a need to. Most of my hovering around is IC people watching/studying. Plus, I'm not a good guy, and it's taken a great deal of effort to get in with the few good guys I am in with...you goody goodies are just too high maintenance!

I often roleplay my character Iilithania as rather bored or looking for inspiration via conversations for songs or tunes, though that is really kind of an excuse to talk to people so that I may not sit by myself for hours on-end, really. I'd rather make up some kind of excuse than be lonely :<
Although, with Saniah it is much easier. Since she is a very outgoing and, well, caring person, she tries listening to conversations near her to see if there is any way she can benefit others by joining in, and along for some other reasons that conversations have happened... But hm, I forgot them.
As for characters in general, I agree. People would probably not wish to notice them save for the bards that 'require' attention such as Iilithania or something else, but then there wouldn't be as much of roleplay, at least not until some kind of conflict made people work together, and then everything would... probably... be easier from then on to talk. Eaither way, I think its best to act the way your character acts, but I, in no way, frown upon those that try to converse with strangers at all, unless they were ussually very unfriendly/antisocial but then somehow... They weren't... But eh, i'm not always the best at thinking, so I could be just acting... stupid... by what I am saying now, really. I wouldn't know <.<
Oh, yes, i'm also talking about the Exigo Trade portI havent had much experience in cities.

well i was more talking about people seeing me running around in a city, and then them being like "oh hello what are you doing here?"...I'm just like ..well I"m in the city like the other thousands of people any reason in particular that you noticed me? lol. I definitely don't want to be running around all anti social ( not having people to RP with for too long usually end me up on here typing some thing), but i also don't like people getting irritated with me for playing Sain to his personality. ...He stutters people...he's not gonna start too many conversation's with new people in the middle of a crowd. lol I think that the fire at the trading post is different because it's also not a crowded city, but more of a gathering place for merchants and adventurers. So, new people that you would see there would get noticed. It's not a big deal just more of a funny thing that i noticed. Having people greet me in town like that usually just makes me laugh. I think that next time I'll just Rp Sain having a hard time trying to find them in the crowd. Especially if they're short. lol. /oh one more thing. I guess that noticing might not apply to big crazy unique looking people, but RPly you probably wouldn't just run up and start talking to them either. Might end up with you dead or in prison or some such nonsense. lol.

Play your character the way he would be played. I do exactly that ...
- Taja doesn't talk to anyone unless she has to because she's an arrogant aspiring red wizard ... and a bitch.
- Shia doesn't speak unless spoken to so she often will not say a thing and sometimes if she isn't fully aware you are speaking to her she may even ignore you until she is sure.
- Carisa is the friendly one, while she doesn't talk (vow of silence) she will smile and wave to everyone she meets/sees ... technically even NPCs but that would get tiring doing it all the time so I only emote it every so often.
So you see 2 of my 3 character might be considered "rude" in certain situation ... one of them is for sure. If you feel you may have completely slighted someone and they may be upset oocly just ship them a tell message and explain your reaction is completely IC and that OOCly your not trying to slight them it's just how your character is. With Taja I often ignore people and then send a tell message to them "sorry for ignoring Taja's a bitch"
EDIT - I also would go RPing there is a crowd of people if you don't see them, people will be put off by that. Yes you can't make a crowd in NWN2 or things will lag but I think it is assumed people are in their houses/shops/whatever and the only people outside are the ones you see. I'd just stick with what I said above if your character is too shy to talk to them because of his stutter then just don't talk to them

This is a brilliant point as far as I'm concerned. If you see Cybil Gelley running along and she doesn't stop to at least look at you, then she's in a terrible hurry. She even greets the Sisters in the Temple of the Triumvirate when there isn't anyone there ( sometimes she just talks to herself at the campfire too, but that's another story and no one is usually around anyway....)
I've seen two dark elves in the hills, they looked at us, spoke briefly in a strange language and scowled.... I didn't take offense at all and just walked away; it's just a part of role playing. Just be consistent, unless your CN, then you can be inconsistently consistent... or visa versa (it's the hardest alignment to play, but that's my opinion)
Bree - Bookkeeper and diplomat of Exigo.
Becky Dragonhin - Sword of the Loyal Fury, Knight of the Triad... the only Good hin in Sundren???
Cybil Gelley (Retired)
Perry Turnipfodder - aspiring talent, happy chronicler.

I played a character that only speaks druidic, that was a challenge. Anyone who met her would just have to follow her lead. She is a complete idiot too, more likely to talk to a tree than a person.Dahdmib Al Faruk: Whirling Ranger
