  • Thy Puck Hath Returneth

Well, not quite yet, but close. I had enough money saved up, and I just picked out the parts for a computer I am going to buy. No lap top this time of course. I learned my lesson. I'm building a kick-ass desktop. It should be in sometime next week. My thanks go out to my buddies Stephen and Paul for helping me pick things out. I am retarded when it comes to that stuff.

    Here's what I have coming...

And I will install Windows XP Pro on it. See you guys in Sundren soon. Cheers!

Igneous Black will be able to put his crafting skills to good use, when you get up and running. Puck will be tolerated since his brain does not work right.

You know me all to well. Though I might have to work on that Puck tolerance thing. Expect him to be more annoying than ever to make up for his absence.

Decent piece of kit. Not a huge fan of the Radeon cards (nvidia is better, they've been killing AMD lately), but it'll definetly be a nice screamin' little gaming rig. Bit of a waste going on XP with that kind of horsepower on your videocard, but if you don't play any DX10 games I guess you won't know what you're missing anyway.

Thanks Saulus! I'll actually keep your advice about the Vista in mind. I have just heard bad things about it so far is all. Not that I know much about these things.

I work with Vista a lot, I'm a MCP and I have two certifications for the OS. It's definetly not ideal for all situations, but for gaming it's really the only choice these days. You just have to have the hardware to throw at it, you have the hardware so performance isn't a concern over the xp/vista choice.

A big factor to consider is I saw you have 4GB of memory there. Well you can only address up to 3GB to a single application under 32 bit operating systems. Windows XP comes in a 64-bit flavour but it's really just a transition OS to Vista 64 which has far better support and compatibility for 64 bit applications.

I agree, with that rig, Vista 64 is the way forward. And alot of the new games coming out are DirectX 10 so I'd say it would be worth it.
                Also, nice case.

And Saulus, I have decided to go with Vista as you recommended. Is there any big difference between the different versions of Vista? I'm not sure if I should pay the extra buck for pro/ultimate or not.

Well the Ultimate edition features all the media centre capabilities, and increases TCP connection cap, the Aero interface (it only comes in Home Premium and Enterprise otherwise). I use Ultimate personally just because I want all the features and functionality... But if you're asking if there will be a big performance difference between Home Premium and Ultimate or Home Basic in Ultimate? No, not really.

Okay, I lied. I have the computer all together and ready to go, but I am busy IRL. The wait continues.
