  • Pimp my spellbook

Time for another gas leak-induced inquiry from Silas to all you wizards out there. While every true wizard has scores of books with various arcane secrets to learn about, there is often one spellbook in particular they take with them on adventures and such that contain all their spells of battle and buffing and which they read from to refresh their spells during rest. This is the way I preceived it anyway. I could be wrong, but if I am not, my question to you wizards is...

What does your personal spellbook look like?

Does it have a title? Are the pages simple thin paper, thick parchment, or human skin? Are there gems on the front? Is it bulky or easy to carry around? What kind of ink do you use and what color? (Note: these questions are merely ideas, not necessarily what I am asking) If you are not playing a wizard on Sundren, do you on any other server and what would THEIR spellbook look like? Or, if you had a wizard character, what would it look like?

Elith's spellbook is a raggedy piece of crap held together by luck and sheer force of will.

If I had a spellbook, and could pimp it out as I saw fit, it would look like a nondescript book by default. I would then enchant it with multitudes of illusions and traps to deter would-be thieves and jackass DMs. A perennial favorite for trapping is a "Greater Teleport" trap, which would automatically teleport the spell book to a predetermined location (which I could teleport to later) if a specific command word/phrase was not spoken before touching it. Then, I would have an extremely ornate, large, and valuable looking tome which I would, over time, attempt to fill with the message "I prepared explosive runes this morning."

Matthews book is 3 foot thick full of pages falling out of it. The ink color varies from black to white with half of the book not even being spells. Much of the writing isn't even in common, but celestial and elven, sometimes dwarven, as he will sometimes forget he is speaking or writing another language. Upon further examination you can see shopping lists, notes to self, important apointments, Interesting people, and endless amounts of scrolls and sketches hastily put together into a mound of papers and crappy binding.

*Peridan walks hesitantly to the door when he hears the incessant knocking. He opens it up to a vision of shining gold and an old man decked out in so many enchanted runes and gold sigils he looks like a gold dragon.*

Peridan screams like a little girl. "OMG! Elminster! Does that mean this is..?"

The old man grins showing gold teeth. "Hell yes boi. It's time to PIMP YOUR SPELLBOOK!!!"

When Orrick was alive, he had a fairly large tome (about the size of a large dictionary) with very thick binding. To stave off wandering eyes he switched languages (any of 9 different languages he knew) so that if anyone decided to look over his shoulder while he was working, they most likely would not understand more than a few words of it. There were also magical mechanisms in place so that once closed, the book would only open to his touch and word. Besides that, he carried a few other books (not really special looking) and his tome was also fairly plain looking with only a few runes etched into the thick, brown, leather binding.

Samantha (my char) got her spellbook stolen a few months ago.
As you all know wizzys can not memorize spells without one, so I played for 2 months not able to memorize any new spells. Was a fun time, and was hard to stay alive as there was about 15 players hunting me.
But in the end I was able to make me a new spellbook. the whole thing costed me over 200K, the lives of many elves and almost my life a couple of times (and 2 months with no spellcasting), but was absolutly worth it.
So Sam actually got a physical spellbook ingame.
Perhaps you will one day be able to see it.....

I have seen it, and it is remarkable
Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
                Contagion to this world.

Pftt. I could have done so much more with it. It could have been much much cooler. Slanke just really really wanted the book ASAP.

venomsplinters book will look like ( once he is created ) a book of solid black, with a bone from the fore arm as binding, the spells are written on charred pages with the blood of an ancient elven wizard. which he keeps numerous vials of for new spells
