  • External hard drive

I was thinking of buying a 500g external hard drive for my NWN2. I would like to know if I can load it into and off it, and play off it as well. Also, do I need a certain type of External hard drive to do so?

I have a few older hard drives that I put into external cases and use them as my externals. I have almost all my games stored onto those and have no problem loading off them. However when I got NWN2 I installed it onto the external and when I tried to run it it told me something about the 3D device dxd3d9_dll (or something to that degree) could not be found. I wound up having to install it onto the pc itself. When I got the Great Kenji to buy NWN2 and come here, he put his onto a regular bought external When he tried to run it, it gave him the same error screen and would not run. So he runs it off his pc as well.
Now it could be that you may would just need to download a file or something. Maybe Google searching would the exact problem readout would tell you if maybe a file is missing in the install or something. In a similar event, I installed F.E.A.R. onto my external and it plays just fine. However when I took it to work and tried to run it off my work computer it gave me a file error (similar to the one above) and would not run. I Google searched it and found I just needed to download a simple file. 5 minutes later and I was running it off the other computer.
So I am not sure if that is helpful or not but that was my experience. Good luck.
