Any who, have fun on your trip, I've been out to the west coast this time of year, and since I'm from Michigan, it's strikingly different (at least where I was). It's a nice change of scenery though.

I will take a daytrip to Canada aswell

You might want to miss Mexico, especially along the U.S. Mexico border. The violence between the drug cartels and the Mexican military and police is escalating every day.

Therefore, I advise to miss that part of the trip. You could end up in a crossfire or kidnapped for ransom or if your girlfriend is a blonde, well, she could disappear.

I was just out there last month. Union Square has some great shops. Amazing how hilly the roads are.

SF is best for all the great bars, including Lucky 13 and Zeitgeist to name a few. I'd recommend taking a drive down the 1 highway if you got the time.

Be sure to stop off in newport beach and hit the strip. They have a couple of great bars there "Mutt's" and "The Beach Ball" come to mind, as well as some truly inspiring scenery.
