No, It's a common practice, a friend of mine, do a post of his character background, a character based on Guybrush Threephood and added a link to the Monkey Island 1 main theme and posted pictures of Monkey Island 2.Originally posted by sharringtonm View PostSo starting to day.. to further shamelessly promote my own RP posts, I've begun adding links to music to play in the background while reading my posts and looking at the pretty pictures. Let me know if its a waste of my time, or does it add to the appeal?Lucy Majer - "Squire of ???????"

Of course the server rules aren't up to me, but if you're claiming 3.5 rules, you might want to take a closer look at the raven on the tableOriginally posted by Phantom LambBig ups to S-Diz for the info on this.
The gist--familiars do not talk. They are not extra-planar; they cannot even be dire animals. Please, no more cutesy bunnies, cats or space weasels chatting at the campfire!
Thanks for understanding folks. While we like creativity, we need to keep within reason.
Here's the 3.5 PNP rules on familiars and communication:
#1.) A familiar can only be made of a unmodified, natural creature. (No dires, no extra planars, etc.) Specific spells can allow for the creation of construct familars at later levels.
#2.) At 1st level a mage can communicate empathiclly with its familar. (Feelings and moods)
#3.) At 5th level a mage can communicate verbally with his familar as if they were sepaking the common tounge. Other creatures cannot understand the communication without magical help.
#4) At 7th level the familar (not the master) can communicate with animals of the same family as itself (including dire varieties). Bats to bats, rats to rats, cats to cats, etc. THe knowledge passed is of course limited by the INT of both animals.
As you can see, a familiar cannot communicate with anything but its master and other REAL animals of its family type (Druids in bear form cannot speak to bear familiars). A familiar is a basic animal (excluding famliars made by late-level spells, which need to be DMed).
There is a rule that says an animal companion CAN act as a familiar which would bypass the no special creatures rule, but its the only rule of its kind.

I saw it, but we don't have ravens.. so it wasn't worth muddying the water with.
Currently in NWN2 is :
Bat: Master gains +3 to Listen checks.
Beetle: Master gains +1 hit point per level.
Cat: Master gains +2 to move silently and hide checks.
Pig: Master gains +3 to diplomacy checks.
Rabbit: Master gains +1 bonus to all saves.
Rat: Master gains +2 to fortitude saves.
Spider: Master gains +3 to bluff checks.
Weasel: Master gains +2 to reflex saves.
soon to be more

Nice to hear, is it custom content or has Obsidian promised anything in the next expansion?
That way, that post will have at least some level of merit instead of a meaningless nitpick

Well, the improved familiar feat allows those in 3.5, if I'm not mistaken, but I haven't figured out the use in taking a feat for them."Mad" Jack Flynn - "Godless wanderer"
