  • Brick wall on a bug.

Turns out I hit a bug tonight that has me stumped.

Here's what the problem is. Obsidian hardcoded it that if you join a party, all your journal entries become the same as the party leaders. And there's no way to do a damn thing about it.

This means I will be stripping out the journals from Sundren now. This means that new quests are gonna be put on hold till we get this fixed.

Now I need ideas. Cuase I'm only coming up with one, and its a monster. Does anyone have a better idea then me going and creating my own GUI journal?

Please don't start debating quests, cause if that happens, I'm liable to quit working on quests all together.

    =(

But... I played on some other servers while Sundren was down last year, and I'm sure they had quests working through the journal where this didn't happen (no idea how!).
    I got one leg missin'
    How do I get around?

Hmm..guess you already know this be all knowing and all but just in case you don't there a parameter that toggles giving journal entries to entire party, by default it is set to true.

Sorry if that is a dumb thing to say as thats probably something you tested already

What if, instead of journal entries, we made inventory tokens / books for people to check? The tokens could hold the quest data variables and give background info as well. I hate to return to the early NWN1 days of tokens for everything, but this seems like the easiest thing to implement... maybe

You could screw the journal system and leave it to people to keep their own notes in their journal

Your journal is updated to the what the party leader's is only untill the next reload of the server and then it is set back to where it was. The only time it is not, is when you complete a quest while in the party.
