In addition to this, both Mage Armour and Shield will only cost you 3000 stags from Val. If you have any UMD at all, I think a temporary +7 AC is worth this purchase...

Mage Armour: Gives +1 to Deflection, Armor, Dodge, and Natural AC. Duration is more like 1min/level (probably slightly higher than this) than 1hour/level (don't have exact numbers on duration I'm afraid, and I don't believe they were ever posted, but I used to play a mage and that's close to the mark).

Shield: Gives +4 Deflection AC. Duration is approximately halved on Sundren

And for the record, Maddock was a deep gnome. He was completely powerbuilt, but still had his weaknesses, and I never minded. He was a Wizard and had one level of Monk for an AC bonus, a few levels of PM for an AC bonus, and when combined with deep gnome Spell Resistance, it was pretty hard to hurt him. He'd get over 50AC when ready for a battle.

But yeah, what is a Gnome/Halfling.

I can see one problem that might arise with taking 1 level of wizard, from a DM's perspective.

Taking 1 level of wizard still enables you to use all spell circles of wizards spells with no sort of check or spell failure. So if you had a wizard friend make you all the spells you need, you would have the benefits of an *insert wizard level here*. Not all spells have that high of caster level from scrolls or wands, but playing a casting-based char myself I have picked out the ones he needs to scribe, and I must say there could be abuse if someone took 1 wizard to do this. Heroism, dragonic might, keen edge, spiders skin (casted at level 17 on scrolls) and not to mention wands and the like do have a lot of higher caster levels from items.

So I would advise trying to stay away from the concept if you have this in mind. If you're doing it for the spells you can memorize and then scribe from there, then you're good. Thats all I can say from a DMs perspective.

Uhhh... hello, gnome race feats and abilities AND halfling race feats and abilities? Granted his strength would suck but it would be awesome for a dex build, not to mention all the racial bonuses to attack and giant creatures, and +2 ac for size bonus (it stacks gnome/halflings are really really tiny). *snickers*

Gnome/Halfings are not allowed on Sundren. Any player caught using one will be perma-banned. Just say no to Gnome/Halflings Kangleton. That is all.
