  • Sorry about that, I'm back

I'm responding to all your PMs now. I've been down for the last 36 hours with multiple viruses, malware, and spyware. Real bad couple of days. Thats the last time I download a keygen.

If your interested, I had to install AdAware, run it. McAfee, run it. Norton, run it. MicrosoftMaliciousSoftwareRemovalTool, run it. SmitFraudFix, run it. Sophos, run it. and finally FixVundo (by symantec) and run it. Finally I'm free.

After all that, I'd say I have a pretty good look at the anti virus software and utils out there.
Here's what I concluded: Sophos is best for gettting rid of 99% of bad stuff. But if there is a very specific one that gets into your memory (like mine did), Symantec has very specific utilities that are made to nail specific viruses it and the others don't seem to.

Wierd that they don't include those utilities in Norton though.

I didn't want to run the risk of infecting anyone, so I stayed off the web, quarantined MSN making it horribly laggy, and refused to even look at my email.

    But, were good now. Ugh.

Did little Seanybears appear on your desktop and replace all the normal icons?

Glad to here you got rid of your viruses, normally I try to keep back ups of all my pertinent information on my Ipod (which spends most of it's time disconnected from my computer), so that if I get any terrible viruses I can't deal with I can use my general cure all of reformatting my hard drive. Although since you're one of our developer's I'm willing to bet you had a lot of information that you didn't want to risk losing .

Since suffering something similar I take regular images.

As long as theres nothing major to be lost a simple restore can be less of a headache.

Not sure if you meant that for me, sharrington, or both of us . I use the restore as well, I just forgot about that option when I made my post lol. That has saved me a lot of hassle a few times though, I have to say I'm glad I have it.

Yeah I tried a restore right away. Supposedly Windows XP will not let anything effect restores, and true it didn't. My restores weren't corrupted. They were deleted out right. Malicious piece of crap I had. Then after I posted this I noticed my CD rom wasn't working so I had to go and remove the registry keys so I could reinstall this.

In Lamens terms.. I just gave my PC an enima.
