I served in the Army for 20 years. I retired 3 years ago.

No need to get all dramatic about our status as soldiers. It's a job, like any other job....just a tad bit harder. However, the thought is appreciated by me. I always feel awkward when people say thank you and all that.....that's probably is just me though. I never asked other soldiers how they felt of the subject.

As for the war, it's true that there are some soldiers that dont agree with the war. One soldier told me he joined so he could end the war. I guess it's what every soldier wants.

Your thanks are appreciated, but I agree with hallowed...I don't think any of us joined because of the accolades.

I've worked for the feds for almost 12 years, and for me the most enjoyable aspect of my work is the oppurtunity to work around so many former military and law enforcement professionals.

I still laugh till this day when we all get together and talk about our experiences.

God speed to any of those still serving on the front lines, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

When I served I didn't serve so I could pick and choose which political/ethical/moral order of the day I was going to follow, I served because there was a need for those to serve. However every good soldier knew when 'not' to follow an illegal order, luckily most of us never had to deal with that situation ever.

Hopefully, I will never find myself in that situation.....I can imagine lil pv2 having an internal struggle of morales, law etc.
