I do work on flooding and FEMA stuff but fortunately I am not the flood plain manager. The planners and zoning people do that...thankless job that it is.

The hours are actually good (8-5). Private sector hours can be a lot longer although the pay in private sector tends to be higher. My pay is pretty good, but is a little lower than private sector....that's not unusual in Florida for local government...the State employees get paid terribly.

For what I do, Florida is actually a great place to work because of the high rate of development which puts pressure on water resources. Florida also has a high degree of environmental awareness that crosses political party lines so that helps too.

I am trying to take over the world, just like I try to do every night.

Luckily, it is only a 9-5 job, so I do get some time on Sundren

Hmmm, in the university library and on my computer! Though once upon a time I used to be an account manager at an Aussie telco for corporate clients' telecommunication requirements (Never never do this is you have any sense) I typically work some mindnumbing phone answering job between semesters to top up my account balance (latest was dealing with health insurance claims.... yay!)
                  I got one leg missin'
                  How do I get around?

I happen to be the daughter of a VP of HR for some company... hard work that. Waking up late, getting angry and walking into my part of the house, etc. etc.

You'll invariably look back on making that post in about 8 years and think to yourself "Oh, how the mighty have fallen."

                      Enjoy it while it lasts!

So, when you say journalist, are you the kind like me, that inevitably drowns their sorrows in a boozing, wanton and lustful existence, or do you work for the Christian Science Monitor?

I'm the webmaster over at http://guitarhangar.com. Its sort of an after-college interim job: I've only been here for about 2 months but I've managed to learn Joomla, Javascript, AJAX, and set up an IDE for developing the website in the future. *brushes off shouhlders*

Yeah, it looks pretty ghetto, but the owner wants it that way. I tried showing him some more flashy designs and he was just *not having it*. I finally finished the news module today...it finally works with IE7. Microsoft is the *devil*. *devil*.

I also handle shipping and a small portion of the sales, am the receptionist, etc. Unfortunately, my computer is so slow, it can't run NWN2 while im working...although the boss plays Zelda while I'm working. Damnit...I want to be a boss.
