  • Updater Issues, please help!

First off, I am able to connect to the server and download most of the updates. But while installing the update from a few days ago, my updater says it is "Unable to Install Files" while trying to install file "campaigns/sundren/campaign.cam" I have successfully updated Sundren once before and have no idea why it isn't working now. Also I noticed after the failed update attempt a Neverwinter Nights 2 folder containing only a campaigns folder which contains only an empty sundren folder has appeared in my Local Disk (C I couldn't find anything on the forum about this but if it has happened to anyone or you have an idea on how to fix it would you please reply with your suggestions?

    Thank you very much
P.S. I apologize if this is in the wrong place again, but if it is could someone please tell me where to post it before deleting it again? Thanks.

Your post was deleted because you failed to read clearly written instructions which say on the actual bug tracker "This is FOR INGAME ISSUES ONLY". Also on the description for the bug tracker it says "DO NOT POST UPDATER ISSUES HERE".

Our FAQ has common updater troubleshooting in it as well if you had looked.

Again I'm sorry about the misplaced post
And yes I have read the FAQ but I could not find anything about problems with the updater installing files, which as I said in my post, is my only issue and I am having no problems connecting to Sundren or the updater, so the FAQ offers no help for my particular problem. So again if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

Have you checked in the "Options" menu of the updater to make sure you've got the right target directory?
          I got one leg missin'
          How do I get around?

First of all, thank you. I think I have it right but that could be my problem. Just to be sure, what are the correct paths should I enter for the two prompts on the options menu? Again thanks for helping a newcomer out.

Just reinstall the updater, you shouldn't have ever changed the default locations.

The default directory created by NWN2 for documents is c:\users\<your-username>\documents\neverwinter nights 2... unless you specified a different one that should be right for "Full path to Mydocuments Neverwinter nights 2" in the updater options. But check your documents folder and see where the directory is to be sure. If that doesn't help, I have no idea (but it sounds kinda like you might have the wrong directory targetted).

If he has a sundren directory in the campaign folder the directory settings are probably fine...
Saulus, can't you make files from the latest update accessible publicly for those with updater issues? and maybe a readme saying which files to delete?

Nope, far too much extra work + bandwidth when the updater works fine.

Every single updater issue is someone's ISP, or crap they have on their PC, or a configuration they've changed or some software has changed.

The default directories post-updater installation should always work unless you've used a non default install path when you installed NWN2. If that still doesn't work you delete sundren.state and sundren.ver as mentioned in the FAQ and run the updater again.

It will always work. If you get disconnects (It's your ISP, firewall, antivirus, whichever) or files stop installing partway through then your HD is most likely full.

Is your harddrive full? That has been 100% of the reason most people can't install files. The client pack is like 1gig uncompressed.

You may also not have permission to write to the folder you told it to install to.

Make sure your folder is something like: c:\Documents and Settings\Bob\My Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2
