  • What are you thinking/doing now?

Here i am at 2:30 am between writting my chars Chronicles and surfing then net, listening to music, and wandering... What are YOU doing /thinking? i can see there's alot of people on right now, should we start a small chat? i am rather bored from the past 6 hours of non stop writting.

Banging head on keyboard at work, wishing i was home writting my char bio, watching movies, listening to music, playing games or... whatever. it's 11:50am here, so i still have another 5hrs of work before i get to sit on a tram for an hour ot so, get home, sleep and start the next day.

    I love weekends.

Already finsihed NWN2 on my work laptop (heh), but i won't be able to play the expansion on it cause its video card is crap (using 3Danalyser so i can't go beyond v1.04), so now i have reverted to some old games and will prolly just play something like Baldurs Gate untill i can convince the Computer Assets guy to give me a better laptop.

Ah.... because mine friend... the "F5" is quicker than the "Click"

Also, you're probabally not at work, so after spending all day looking at spreadsheets and doing VB Script, clicking on that little window along the bottom on your toolbar is a welcome relief.

Also, your name... UndeadSteak.... is that some kind of vengefull version of a vegetarian with its meat coming back to haunt those whom ate it?

Hang on a minute! Saulus is supposed to be in there with his 900 posts! and GBX with 1,327

                    Down with your statistics! :P

The statistics do not include developers or staff because I find it's not really relevant to posts. And, to go without saying... the majority of undeadsteak's some 1200 or so posts are mostly useless banter.

I'm sure anyone could reach that postcount with little or no effort.

Good point. Just got it off the Home Page's stats. Obviously that only shows non-Sundren staff. Still, only a hundred or so short from GBX is still pretty impressive!

I hear ya! Text-Book programmers. Know them all too well. Knew several people who failed and assignment back at uni because what the asignment asked them to do "...Wasn't in the text books they provided and i had to buy...". God forbid you had to think a little. It was just a simple Bucket-Hashing storage algorithm, and the assignment even EXPLAINED how it worked and how it stores the info, you just had to actually apply it wiht a few pointers and recursive loops and so fourth. Ugh. Annoying.

You can show disdain for input from subordinates should you choose to, but management is a world of required perception of respect. Yeah, management works.
Management is overated. Currently working with the Project Managers and all that fuzz and I'm telling you, creativity is not a selling point. I'm what they call a "Project Analyst" which in short is "Here... put this info into that online tool that will take you 2 hours to do because i can't be stuffed sitting there and clicking". The result is me and the rest of my PA colleagues sit here and do all the crap while the PM's Surf, have coffees and do less work. Ugh. When Pay goes up, work goes down.

I'm dying to get into Development stuff cause the IT industry here in Australia is really chocca block (Everything going to india! Nothing left for us poor aussies really) and its really hard to get into anything without at LEAST 1-2 years experience. Where does one get that? Grad positions, and now those are reducing by the Month. Thankfully the company I'm working for is taking Grads next year, gonna see if i can scuk up to the right people to somewhat put my foot in the door in that department.

Anyway, all of the Programmers here that claim they want to "go into management" are all incompetent and irresponsible as, well, that word I'd best not say. I think the Architects have the best job. They get to BE creative, the AUTHORITY to actually manage others to some degree and get more BLING to boot. Thats my current goal at the moment....

... besides taking over the world
