    What's your favorite cliche'd backstory?

I've always enjoyed the Anakin Skywalker "Fall from Grace" kind of stories - the intricacies and temptation of unimaginable corrupting power coupled with idealism and naivete.

Well the Anakin example is definetly a cliche but an acting performance and plot that could bring one to vomit. Personally I enjoy the gradual rise to power (The Godfather, Scarface, etc) from the lower ranks.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Yes! The Princess Bride mmm one of my favorites, love the story ^.^
Sacrifice everything as the final darkness falls... in the end, all that awaits you is death. Only then will you understand - you've been following in my footsteps all along.
So come then, you heroes! Come in all your power and glory! For in the final hour, all must serve the one... true... king.

I'm a sucker for tragic loss stories that fule any sort of personal growth. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, that fuels the desire to change the past or seek vengeance against those responsible; the loss of one's honor and grace, that fuels a honorless drive to the top of a cruel power center ; or simply the loss that crushes, creating a fanatical zealot with nothing to lose.

Trauma brings out the best in everyone.

, i loved Arthas in WC3 falling from Paladin, slaughtering every human villager because soon they'd turn into evil creatures, thinking he was doing good, taking a cursed sword and letting his companion die, and then finally getting his revenge and falling from his paladin grace, and turning into a deathknight. And then finally...

Dad: What are you doing son?

              Arthas; Succeeding you. *Chop.*

              That made me laugh.

Arthas did it right. The epic way. Paladins that are really, *really* good at what they do (kindness, mercy, justice, order, law, real -goodness), make the best when they fall. It really, really hits home how far a person can go when pressed to evil acts. It's not as cool when lame, wannabe paladins do this, however. It makes me groan a little, and throw up in my mouth.

I still have a hate-love relationship with the ordinary
"My parents was slain and raped(no no the other way, slain first!) by orcs and now I'm going revenge!"

That's something that I always have a laugh at when seeing.
I have a +1 question brewing in this skull somewhere...
