I just stumbled across these rules in the SRD and thought they were pretty interesting. It says anyone with 5+ ranks in a Craft skill can take the "Signature skill" feat and after reaching 20 ranks they can create magic items associated with that skill e.g. if skill is Craft (Weaponsmithing) you can create magic weapons made of metal.
You can only take the feat once, so you're much more limited than wizard's/clerics with Craft magic arms and armour. I think it's a nice idea, as I've always wondered how Dwarves are so prolific with their magic weapons/armour when they don't have Wizards.
Anyone used these rules before? Does it have other limitations? For example, does your caster level = your total level? Do you still need spell scrolls and material components?
Cheers!
