  • Help modifying NWN2 game location

My new computer is up and running strong. Trying to avoid a complete reinstall of NWN2. My game used to be on drive C, now it is on drive F:.
Just started tinkering with ini files. You guys know what I can modify to get the game to run correctly?

Think it will work if I copy all the game files and directories to my new C drive? Might be the best way to pull this off.

I moved both game directories over to the C drive. No go.
Looking like a complete install will be the next choice. Trying to get Steam to work also.
The worse part about a new computer build is getting everything working again.

Ok figured it out, was a odd fix. The game wouldn't start and would complain about not being able to find a .dll file. I found the file and told windows to open the .dll file with NWN2.exe. Strangely it worked.
      Thanks for listening.

if anyone cares for quick explanation, it's because .dll files are basically libraries and storage-containers for other parts of a program. To be crude and brief, they let you chunk a big program down into a number of files to make storage and organization a bit more simple. So not too strange.

Secondly, and proably a bit more problematic, will be that if you just copy-pasta-ed from one hard-drive to the next, your programs and games wont be stored in your computer's registry, so your new operating-system wont have a record that they are installed, or how to deal with them. Think illegally immigrated software; they can do stuff and be helpful, but the 'system' doesn't officially know to deal with it.
If you manually generate shortcuts to your desktop, that wont be a problem. if you use lots of start-menu tree stuff, it might be.

          Cheers,
          Kit
