    4K Gaming

    So I recently got a very nice new Panasonic AX800 58'' 4K TV. I could go on why it's so great (it's an LED that's so close to plasma who really cares anymore), but the real gem is that it supports displayport... which for the technical among you might know that it provides a much faster connection for a PC interface, and is capable of doing native 4K right now.

    I'm going to post some more screenshots, but here's what Watchdogs looks like at native res.

    I just got 7.1 audio setup too.

      Some games just crash at that res though, can't run Rome II unfortunately.

        Posted a few more... I've been playing the newest Splinter Cell Blacklist (which is surprisingly a spectacular and rewarding stealth game made just in my backyard, Toronto).

            If I had a set up like that, all I can honestly think of is "OH MY GOD, IMAGINE WHAT I COULD DO IN PAINTER!" And then I would game my face off.

              It looks like steam is resizing them, I will have to upload some native shots (They will be huge files though lol).

                Much like Fury I'd probably spend a while going 'yay! I can get all my Maya menus laid out on one screen and still have space to work! Imagine the possibilities!!'

                Then game, which considering my current gaming habits consist solely of Master of Magic (good old dosbox) and FTL, would only lead to considerable eyestrain.

                If I did game properly though having that red would be awesome and I really am jealous

                  It's funny I was reading a PCGamer post showing No One Lives Forever 2 in 4K and it looked amazingly good for it's age. I can't wait until the license for that game comes out of legal limbo...

                    Ah, NoLF. I was thinking about grabbing a copy of those games the other day after overdosing on episodes of Archer.

                    There's a few older games that still work reasonably well despite the seeming age of their engines. Thankfully style works well no matter what whereas photorealism seems to fair less well. It's crazy how quickly PR stuff ages.

                      Does netflix stream 4k to that model? I picked up the Samsung UN65F9000AFXZA because it did. Very pleased with the picture.

                        It doesn't but that's really the only negative, and for that if I really, really want it I can buy the bluray player from panasonic that does it.

                        Eventually they will add netflix 4k support to PC or a console and I can stream it from there so it won't matter... it's just right now netflix has it locked in to certain TV manufacturers (stupidly).

                        For the two shows that are even 4K right now on Netflix (Breaking Bad and House of Cards) I could care less (I'm caught up on them anyway).

                        Most of the reviews I've read on this thing essentially say it's the best 4K TV out right now, there's the AX900 coming out in the Fall which will be the panasonic flagship (and even pricier). I looked at every 2014 model up close from all the big names and the color reproduction just did not compare. It was that noticeable.

                          It's a little bit marketing-oriented but they talk briefly about how they stopped making plasmas last year and wanted to make black level and color reproduction like plasma to prove LED can be a better technology in 4K...

                          They essentially designed new methods to literally fix the problems associated with doing blacks and color reproduction on LCDs... and succeeded (Studio Master Drive).

                          EDIT: Don't take it as a slight to your selection nezzer, I think I looked at that model and it was pretty awesome too, just not the right fit for me
