.... I may be off line for a day or four... Comast is so great at communication.

I will only have smart phone access to the forums until they tire of hearing at me yell.

Omg, that reminds me of trying to leave AOL.

I had to insult the agent I was speaking to so thoroughly they nearly cried -just- to disconnect from AOL. It's the same with everyone.

By the by, not making fun you, Yevelain. Be hard on these jack-asses, and you'll get results. Best wishes they knock off the idiocy!

Well, it's already apparent that the US has the highest cost and lowest bandwidth of just about any of the 'high-progress' countries: http://oti.newamerica.net/publicatio...nectivity_2013

And the US IPS like going backwards. While the rest of the world is removing data-caps, our ISPs seem to be looking at enforcing them.

I'm just rather happy that Google is looking to be a viable alternative in my area soon.

Wow, worst customer service everrrrrrrrrrrrr. I get Bright House here in central Florida and they have amazing customer service that isn't outsourced to some 3rd world country.

I always hear terrible stuff about comcast and my only guess for why people buy from them is either because they are the only provider in the city/town or the people who buy from them are the older generation who get suckered into buying it from snake oil salesmen.

I had a conversation with AT&T that was like that.

adding. not as hostile nor long. but I ended it by saying 'Sorry, no, I'd like to cancel' repeatedly till they understood I was a determined and stubborn man. a lot of times just hanging up and calling back in helps as you get a different rep.

Comcast is my only choice here for cable. I could do Dish, but I prefer not to lose everything when the wind blows.

Good news is, I should be back online tomorrow.

Saulus loves his internet connection at his new place... 60/10 (Speedtests burst to 80 mpbs).... hahaha... limited bandwidth but meh I can upgrade to unlimited if I use more.

Long story short I download most files at 8-10mb / sec.

In my neck of the woods in Canada it's Rogers, but the reason for the speed is the hybrid fibre network. Coaxial cable overall is a better medium for an internet connection, in theory it has higher bandwidth capacity than a phoneline running ADSL.

What's funny is I'm pulling more bandwidth than that because it also uses that same line for my TV.

Damn. ... I gotta get with the times.

And also mention that company to a Canadian friend of mine, see if they can snag a connection with that company.

This is the number one reason I won't do DSL. And will to out of my way to make sure I live in an area that has options *other* than DSL.

I get the wonderful choice of either AT&T, which is crap, or Comcast, which is crap.

EDIT: Also, I'm pretty sure they're colluding, because they're definitely not competing the give the highest bandwidth for the lowest price.
