See, I like stuff like that.

Just sooooo much potential for hilarious TPKs.

I really miss designing whacky weapons. One of my favorite items ever made was an artifact of Kurtulmak. It was simply a variant of the everburning torch, except that it was an everburning gnome. Essentially, a gnome tied to a stick forever being immolated but never allowed to die. It created light, warmth, and an ignition source, but also had the drawbacks of the perpetual screaming of the gnome and a terrible smell. The players were all kobolds, so they didn't mind.

As to favorite weapon I would have to go with Deadlands. There is a class called Junkers in Deadlands: Hell on Earth that are essentially sci-fi futuristic mad scientists. They slap together crap, force a technology spirit into it, and make weapons. Deadlands had some funny rules for innocent bystanders when you missed a target, and damage die could explode, so my Junker built a gun called the "Mook Masher" It burned through an entire large battery in one shot, fired off something like 25-50 bolts of energy that each did 4d4 of damage, and had massive penalties to aiming so you would never hit what you aimed at, but would hit damn near everything around it. I fondly recall the all-nighter I pulled in college with graph paper and the rulebooks sketching out that weapon and all the other awesome crap I built as one of my best RPG moments.
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

HEY! Thats pretty good. . . And even more incentive to keep FNOKS 3.0 under wraps.

For more reasons why engineers should not play D&D, I refer to this.
I may have contributed. Multiple times. And 99.9% of them are freaking awesome. That leaves like 23 unaccounted for >.>

Crafting changes are a dead-horse topic, but feel free to ask me about crafting: If I can't answer it, I bet I can direct you to someone who can.

We totally banished a demon incased in indestructable crystal with this exact method in a PnP game once. He was the arch villian of the campaign and the DM was going to use him as a reoccuring villian throughout the series. DM was so pissed!
