  • Changing the "Users/.../mydocuments/NWN2" path

    The folder mentioned in the title reached nearly 40 GB for me (yes that happens when you love this game that much ) and this has been causing problem recently, since my HD is split in two partition, C (with operating system and some other stuff like Java or Office) has 100 GB max and D (with most programs and pics, music, ecc...) has the remaining 400.

    As you may have guessed by now, my question is:

    Is it possible to move this folder elsewhere and tell NWN2 to use it from that new directory? (I'd like to move it to D, of course)

    If not, is it possible to tell NWN2 to use the Installation Directory instead of the user's folder for using custom content? (This applying to PW and autodownloader as well)

    Append -home "location" to your shortcut.

      What does that mean? I think a little more detailed explaination would help, thanks.

        If you want to move your entire My Documents folder to the D: drive:
        1. Navigate to C:\Users\*username*
        2. Right-click -> properties on 'My Documents'
        3. Change the field entry in the Location tab to D:\Users\*username*\Documents

        If you do it this way, all programs that reference the My Documents folder won't be disrupted.

        If you don't want to do that, I'm not really sure.

          Make a NWN2 shortcut. In the target field, append -home to the end. Follow -home with a full directory path. Using that shortcut will start NWN2 with the -home designated directory as your home directory.

            I have tried this solution and it worked perfectly.
            It was even better than what I imagined since it also helped with a similar problem I had with other application such as MATLAB ecc...
            Thank you very much.

              No problem! Since Poltergeist answered your actual question to which I didn't know the answer, I learned something too.
