    Rome 2: Total War

I'm so excited! Do I have another Alexander The Great rise from Macedonia and conquer the known world? Or do I take on Cleopatra and lead the Egyptians back to the glory of the Pharaohs? Perhaps I will take up the mantle of House Juliani, bringing to power a new Caesar -- or more interesting still unleashing the power of Sparta using the economic benefits of its slave class.

Many hours will be lost to this.

Totally unfair! We Brits have to wait another 22ish hours before its released, just as well that they let us pre-download 9.9gigs of it though because my laptop is stuck with me at work and the idea of downloading the whole thing from this crappy connection gives me nightmares.

I can't wait for tomorrow evening to arrive, but what to do? For me it's either a demonstration of a Spartans breeding for war or taking the mantle of Boudicca and showing history how the Brits 'should' have smashed the Romans back into the Med.

It's soooo good. Sure there's bugs like any TW game, but the secret sauce is there. Beat the prologue and I loved it.

So far got everything set to extreme except for Alpha Vegetation (it slays FPS and it doesn't seem to make things look a whole lot better). I noticed anti aliasing doesn't seem to work very well on it, will have to fiddle with that some more.

I created a new teamspeak channel for anyone wanting to start a Co-Op Campaign with me, I'd like to try that feature out.

Ballistas with Explosive Rounds = win.

Will probably get it. Will probably play Iceni or Suebi most likely, so bring your Roman conquest Saulus.

My Caesar totally won't get stabbed by the senate -- there won't be a senate! muahahaha.

Loving the game so far, seen some issues but the battles are amazing. Ballistas with explosive rounds are devastating.

I just picked up the official book about the battle of Carthage that was written for the game. It's a fun read, I recommend it to anyone with a Legion PC!

Although a fiction, the story is based around real events and the author is apparently an expert on ancient Rome.

I wouldn't get all hyped about the co-op campaign, though. Tried playing it with a friend, same problem with desynchronisation as Shogun 2 had before patches.

Well I have been somewhat absent from the server as of late, apologies for that. The reason for this has been my campaign in Rome II, at first I was just trying to get to grips with it but eventually I figured out what I was doing right/wrong and now, just I had predicted, it has started to suck up every free moment of my time.

I have been playing as Sparta which has been a pretty intense challenge, but after some pretty rocky moments when it looked like I was going to end up getting stomped by my own stupidity, I have finally started to drive a wedge through the entire world and now with forces pushing back the filthy hordes on both sides of my empire I think I might be on to a winner

For those with interest in the game, and as a possible comparison between my own game and that of anyone who is also playing, here is a pic of the overall world map, my own lands are coloured in gold, those people who I have suppressed and left alive as "Client States" are in a light blue colour, red is obviously current enemies/rebel held locations and the rest are currently neutral to my expansion.

                    For Sparta!
