  • Started Reading 3E to 4E transition novels - Ouch

Honesty is my biggest policy. I now decided, even though I had before, but reaffirmed that I hate third party novels for D&D Lore that becomes cannon on it's merit. Writers seem to have absolutely no grasp of the game in terms of what's possible and like to retcon so much or change whatever suits them to tell their story.

I've no love for Eilistraee really, but honestly, a Balor having as much power as Lolth or enough to kill Eilistraee after she had the power of two gods?! WTF?! I think a god would just spit on a balor and it'd poof.

What is this 4E you speak of? I like to pretend it does not exist, cause it's dumb.

I'm told they're going to retcon a lot of stuff for 5E. Hints that the Aber-Toril thing is going to be undone and a lot of gods will come back.

The sliding alignment gradient was nice, but the rest...yeah.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

I sometimes tell costumers this in the RPG store where I work. I have the same attachment to honesty. Haven't given me trouble so far

I've never read a single 4th ed book. But from what I read on the FR wiki, there's just too darn many deities described in the past tense. It's not just madness, its stupid.

Well, the thought a huge list of gods would be unapproachable for new players. Wizards was very big on getting NEW D&D players, but they stupidly alienated their current base of players.

They should have given people a "Dummies Guide to FR" book then kept everything progressing normally.

but dnd and forgotten realms true force is its complexity and large scope. If you want easy to get into go play warhammer. The lore is so useless there its called fluff

I go back to dnd and forgotten realms because there's more to figure out. And i keep coming back
