  • Moving to the country

Hey all. I'm currently in the process of buying a home in the country.
Advantages: Beautiful park like setting with year around creek and a large pear orchard.
Disadvantage: loss of cable Internet. Best I can get, 768 Kbps DSL.
Does anyone play Sundren with a connection that dreadfully slow? Can you game on line with 768 Kbps?

Get some form of wireless broadband, satellite based internet in rural areas typically has higher downspeeds but poor upspeed.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Do you think satellite will work? I looked it up briefly, looked pretty pricey and they had data download limits. Moving to the country might cure my computer addiction. Have to do some research I just for options in satellite companies.
Guess I'll be sitting around listing to the song "peaches." I almost put that in the title of this post

You should be able to game on 768, though downloading stuff will be tedious!

Almost as bad as when I downloaded a 500MB Linux installation on dial up. Took most of two days. The agony of crippled Internet hasn't sunk in yet.
Spent most of the day researching and purchasing.................... machetes.
Serious blackberry bush issues to be dealt with.
Anyways, this is about 30 days out from taking place, providing something doesn't derail my acquiring this home.

I used satellite in the past, namely hughesnet. I was able to play here but I noticed o lot of lag and more if I was in a party with a lot of people. I then started using a Verizon mifi device. Speed is faster, but you have a limit on data depending on the package you choose. Back to satellite, keep an eye on what they don't tell you when you buy it. A thing called fair access policy, once you reach your daily download limit your speed drops to the equivalent of dial up. Not fun at all. Good luck.

The question is are you going to eat a lot of peaches?
I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

You should be fine to play on 700k interwebs. The updating of game files may be painful as stated by my fellow moustache enthusiast.

If you get a steady 768 you should be fine. Now downloading is going to suck...

I played with crap DSL for 2 years!

It was supposedly 1.5 but I downloaded from websites @50-185 kbs. Sucked on downloads and made Netflix a pain on anything but my Xbox. I survived and kept up with my Sundren fix anyway.

Beer delay makes up for internet delay on Gears of War anyway.

In my defense it was whiskey!
