    Has anyone tried this game?

    http://www.thesecretworld.com/

I've got to admit I'm a little bit of a Lovecraft fan and the notion of a Delta Green/Laundry/Modern Day CoC style game fills me with all sorts of joy, but is it worth it?!

I doubt it's quite as sexeh as the screenies on Dead End Thrills (http://deadendthrills.com/?cat=1670)make out. But hey ho. Shooting squid face with assault rifles. I'm almost tempted.

Heard bad, bad things. Avoided at all costs.
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

      Shame, it's a nice idea.

I'll have to keep on dreaming of the day we can play BPRD/Delta Green/Laundry online.

Or maybe I'll just buy the F.E.A.R series, never did play them.

I've played it. It's a theme just waiting for MMO treatment, and the "Everything is True" premise is interesting. They do a good job shoe-horning a vast number of conspiracy theories, legends and myths into one world.

There is no level cap, like E8 you keep gaining skills every time you gain x number of experience. In theory your character can learn every skill in the game, but can only slot a fixed number as active skills, like Guild Wars.

However, it treats the subject matter in a relatively light-hearted fashion, as a game with aspirations of a mass audience possibly has to. The Templars are a shadow of what they could be, for instance. To me they feel more like a re-enactment society than a seriously ancient Secret Order. I no longer play.

When it goes Free-to-Play, I suggest playing the tutorial and prologues for each faction for an enjoyable few hours. It'd be worth the download.

I might give the demo a go and see how it is.

I suspect a part of it is from trying to polish up my portfolio today, lots of bits and bobs from various attempts at fleshing out a Lovecraftian game.

I just want something different from swords and sorcery! Waaah!

I play the hell out of it I like it, there's some things they coulda done better, but I think it's a step towards breaking the everquest mold on MMOs.

I think the game is fine. It has a skill based leveling system like old star wars galaxies. the combat is more action oriented... reminds me of DDO It's the only game I've seen that has Great puzzles quests, that mix well with it's call of kathulu ish theme. I dont know why it got bad reviews. It's on par as far as it comes to mmo's these days.

I bought it and played it for awhile. Most MMOs bore me after about a month, if not sooner. This one was at least more interesting than others. I'm not a fan that I paid money for it then it had a pay for item shop, though the shop didn't seem like the pay to win type.

After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.
