  • Baldur's Gate Enhanced Out Now!

Initial reports are it's pretty buggy so watch out, think it has issues with some intel and nvidia laptop chipsets.

EDIT: Not buggy at all for me... maybe I'm just lucky? Anyway, this game is deified at this point, a must play!

So there's some kind of expansion called the Black Pits... takes place in the Underdark, in addition to the main campaign, I guess this is the content that was never finished.

It seems the company who developed it, beamdog is going to migrate the game eventually to use their online matchmaking system... right now you can only use direct IP connection (have to open a firewall port or use hamachi) for MP.

Anyone want to get a campaign playthrough together?

Also the new companions look cool, Wildmage on the run from Red Wizards, Half-Orc from the Spine who's a Blackguard with some kind of demonic pact..

Just got this for the iPad.... Wow! This brings back memories, THAC0 and all the wonders of 2nd edition.

And the ability to play this anywhere, on the couch, at the coffee shop, in the bathro...uh...

Would love to play this through in multiplayer. I don't think I ever finished this game those many years ago...

Very tempted by it, but I might hold out for the Android version.

                Tempted though..

I have the computer one and will opt for android version as it is made available. Only problem is RL is keeping me tied down with almost 0 playtime.

Is this really worth $20? BG with better screen resolution and slightly enhanced cutscenes?

Edit: I mean no blasphemy, for I posese each of the games of yor in all their special edition glory with acompanying artefacts and I dost tresure them dearly.

Speaking as somebody who didn't play the original game and bought this based on recommendation: No.

I think people are just paying for nostalgia. The game didn't age well.

No, we bought it cuz multiplayer works (At least in #1, #2 has issues getting locked up on cutscenes).

It also implemented new features and new adventure path. However, it's not a bad game to play with buddies. The days of COOP RPGs is dying quick.

Depends on what you get it for, if it's for the graphics then no I wouldn't suggest anyone getting an older game. The story is great however ... I would pay twenty bucks to play through it multiple times to see various different out comes with out a doubt. (I couldn't get through but maybe a few hours of the terrible NWN2 story before I went to multiplayer.) Also without much of a hassle you can begin editing the game yourself there tons of tools and a veritable buttload of mods.

BG1+2 Go pretty much every place I do, as I have them as plug and play thumbdrives. I never bought the enhanced editions because I still have all my original files and discs and I have my BG1+2 set up exactly how I love to play it. The game went to Iraq and Afghanistan with me, so maybe I'm a little biased but I bought both games back when they were full priced, and I still play them to this day.

Hmm, I'm thinking if Multiplayer is the only real benefit I'll stick to the original. A simple BGTuTu download and you can use high resolutions, BG2 ruleset and play multiplayer anyway
