The one character I have wanted to build since day 1 one Sundren could be classified as such: Seeker of Lore, Knowledge, and Truth. Hobbies consist of: Adventuring, Treasure Hunting, and Intelligence Gathering (On people, factions, Unique Magical Items, and all things History of the Realm). Issue is I don't think a Arcane Trickster style Indiana Jones really has a place in Sundren. Especially not a Divination Specialist of Savras. So I have never taken the various versions of him that I have created past level 5. It is also why I have never been THAT involved in the world of Sundren besides making random guys to do this or that with other people who play.

I had 3 main characters in Sundren. Hans Summers, Pericles, and Kyle Rendell.
Hans Summers was a Paladin. I got my inspiration for playing him through a lifetime experience playing games. All those single player role playing games and picking the right answers for every question that would pop up, giving me a gnack for play good aligned characters. Also the love for generally playing melee type with some ability to sustain himself for solo play lead me to pick the Paladin class. I played on many rp servers with a paladin as my main and improved my rp as a paladin each time. Shortly before playing in Sundren, I noticed all my Paladins were too serious, usually leading my character to a lot of drama(something that i hated rp or not) which lead me playing my paladins with a bit more humor(which was more fun to play). Personality-wise i was inspired by Sir Robin from Monty Python's search for the holy grail. Thus Hans Summers was born. Pericles was just a more ridiculous incarnation of him.
For Kyle Rendell, i drew inspiration from a character named Dugu Qiubai from a chinese wushu novel. He was someone who dominated the martial arts community in China through swordsmanship alone, and was forced to live in solitude cause he found no equal. I also influenced by all the movies, cartoons, and games ive played in my youth. Look at He-man, lion-o, conan and many more, they all used swords! As for personality-wise, i guess it was just something i developed along the way. I didnt really expect to play him as my main for as long as i did.
"Thanks is best given in the form of gold." -Kyle Rendell

Julian Esler was originally created to be based off the character known as Derek Vinyard, portrayed by Edward Norton in American History X -

For those unfamiliar with the movie; the story centers around Derek, a neo nazi, whose life is ruled by hate, anger and violent racisim. A tour in the joint has him coming out a different man, and he attempts to steer his younger brother off the same path that landed him in prison. I highly recommend the movie to anyone who likes a dramatical redemption(ish) movie. Anyways; replace the non-protestant white races with elf/dwarf/gnome/halfling and you get the picture. Eventually, someone would come along and Julian would slowly embrace the final line of the movie -

We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.
As well as the theatrical tag - Some Legacies. Must End.

Alas, roleplay has sidelined this major facet of Julian's personality so I had to scrap the whole thing and place it on the backburner before it fully developed and I took it places. Now? He's just the atypical loyal dog to someone much more important than him, and his racism is just an annoying and selfish minor character trait instead of the misguided driving force and sympathetic locomotive cause-of-life-flaw that it was supposed to be. Sigh.

Eira Skald was intended to be a lost soul, unhappy, uncertain and quite unable to deal with her own emotions. She was always a sad character to play, she wanted closer contact with people, but her default response to situations where she was uncertain was aggressive aloofness. She tried to reflect her flaws onto people around her in an attempt to convince herself she was always right. Ultimately she strove to replace her own personality with that of her patron goddess Auril, believing that in sacrificing herself and her emotions to the ice goddess she could eventually find a peace away from the emotions she didn’t know how to control.

She was inspired by elements of my job at the time, working with drug and family services. Other elements came from the breakup of a relationship and from the character of Brynhild in the Völsungasaga / Ring Cycle.
          Eira Skald - Icy bitch.
Karsten Mannerheim - Idealist and murderer.
Vincent Hopkins - Witch Hunter and man of faith.
Aedan Gilter - Dreamer of broken dreams.
Henry L. Jones - Oh god, I can see forever.

Blame Terry Pratchett for all of my characters.

Peridan started as a bland, 'elven smith who needs a master' type of character. It was only when he joined the Legion did he start to take on characteristics of Discoworld's Sam Vimes. Add a dash of Clint Eastwood, and you have the basics.

Daniel was a little more complicated. I drew again on Discworld's Vetinari, and added in a bit of Altair from Assassin's Creed. But most importantly, the idea of "a man who did not believe himself to be evil" played into his goals and beliefs.
            Characters:
Peridan Twilight, one-eyed dog of the Legion, deceased.
Daniel Nobody, adventurer and part time problem solver.

            [DM] Poltergeist :
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge an intermediate deity's unbridled fury.

                Clive:
Inspired by my view of evil. The opposite of the person I strive to be.
Rejected by his parents, rejected by his love interest. Lonely, brooding, fearful and angry. Driven to prove to himself that he is worthy and superior. Conflicted, selfish and tormented. He doesn't need anyone. Hates everyone.
Acts friendly and smiles often. Pretends to be friendly and even caring. He absolutely hates you. Malice defines him. Found his purpose in serving Bane. Loosely based on Bram Stoker's Dracula.

                Isabella:
Inspired by women I have known and tried to fix.
Insecure, selfish, impulsive, irrational and emotionally unstable. Manipulative, entitled, self destructive and promiscuous. Self medicates with drugs and alcohol. Queen Bee complex. A blend of Borderline and Narcissistic personality disorders.

Feigan Callow: Not much thought went into this character. PL asked me to play a vampire with him as part of a group. I'm not a fan a vampires, and the image that pops into my head is of the British fops from SNL (Named Lucien Callow & Fagan). Eventually ended up deleting him because he combined two of my least favorite things to play.... clerics and vampires. http://www.hulu.com/watch/19178

Logan the Foul: In college I had a two-hour break in between classes, so I'd kill time at the bookstore, and eventually picked up a bunch of DC Vertigo comics that were on a shelf in the back corner. Logan was based off the dark-humor evil rednecks in the Preacher books. He ended up being more chaotic trickster than evil (but still pretty evil.)

Pythios Wyrmborn: inspired by Agent Smith's rant in the Matrix. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxKYfTvZFb8

I made Emiliana on a whim so that I could play with Very Angry Goose, who played Lysandra Blackwell. We specifically wanted a character who was the complete and utter opposite of Lysandra, so I made Em as a bubbly, flirtatious, petite, blonde-haired, blue-eyed free spirit to contrast the dour, lanky, dark-haired, soldier.

Pre-Iron Fist Emiliana was loosely based on Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

Young Alyrian was mostly inspired by X-men, with a touch of Anakin Skywalker before Darth Vader.

Phaedriel was probably inspired by Rita Repulsa from Power Rangers.

                        ... *perms all his characters*

Alexander is the by product of Eddard Stark, and Helm's story. He is consistantly at odds internally between his personal veiws and goals of his Deity.

Hashart Datton is based on modern day politicians, always planning, ploting, and attempting to gain power by whatever means necessary.

Oliver is loosly based on the hound in Game of Thrones, without the cowardice.

My fave unsued PC is Kaluth, He is based on Ed Greenwood's Shandril, with a few exceptions.

Most of my others were just on the fly PCs that I have grown to enjoy.

Raised from the dead because it's a good thread. /rhyme

Julia was inspired out of the sheer frustration I felt to Katia--my very first Sundren character and a squishy bard--dying repeatedly to privateers. I just stole a name and a skeleton of her personality from two of my other RP characters, gave a smidgen of backstory to explain her zeal, and set her loose.

There's really no specific source for her developed personality now--closest I can pin is Martin Walker from Spec Ops: The Line. Whether, like him, she will damn herself through her desire to do the "right" thing remains to be seen.
But please, keep one thing in mind for me. What have you become when even nightmares fear you?

My first character, Altherion was inspired in part by Kymil Nimesin from the Elfshadow book (yes I know he's Evil, I'm thinking more about the cool factor of being an EK and his Gold Elven arrogant nature). When I first started playing him I got a lot of compliments for playing a Gold Elf "properly" but sadly over time and his CG alignment his arrogance and prejudice against other races melted away for the most part. You can only have your life saved so many times by your Human comrades before you have to admit they're ok ><

Lanathas is entirely original, and whilst not as brave or powerful as Alth I enjoy playing him just as much as he can do a lot more than just kill things.

Two years ago I had a character on Legacy who was based on Morrigan from Dragon Age Origins. It worked pretty well because magic was fairly taboo in that setting. Sophia is kind of a rehash. She is selfish but she could eventually care for those who show her kindness. She is sometimes mean and condescending, especially when she does not agree with others about matters she deems important.
