  • Evil, Evil... bad computer!

    So, as you may all know, repetitious crashes have been causing me to crash whenever I spend a few minutes in games. So I had done the most logical fix, uninstall and reinstall. No problem eh?

    Well, after a good portion of the weekend, I managed to reinstall the game. However it first tried borking me over by not recognizing my CD keys & registration, but I overcame that. However once I tried to update... it wouldn't. Initiating an update gave me this wonderful error.

    Thankfully a couple of you gave me info where I can painstakingly download each and every patch, and so I did. However, things still failed to be fully updated for NWN.

    My next plan of action was to uninstall again, and reinstall one expansion at a time and running the updater between the expansions. Well I hate to say it, but my computer decided to give me the metaphorical middle finger with that idea. It won't let me uninstall. It instead gives me this error. What the F*ck?! Has anyone ever encountered this before?!

    So I can't uninstall nwn2. I trash every single file in the system, instead, and inserted the game disk to just reinstall and overwrite whatever's left on there.... Guess what;

    : Read Disk Error :

    So now, I can't install NWN2... I can't Uninstall it. My solution at the moment can be pretty much summed up in this:

    Due to my computer being a complete DOUCHE, I am currently unavailable for weekly tort-... gaming events in Sundren. Sorry forum, I'll see what I can do to fix things, but it may not be overnight.

    Have you tried threatening it with a magnet or dousing it in holy water?
    I can't slow down, I can't hold back though you know I wish I could. No there ain't no rest for the wicked until we close our eyes for good!

          If I had a macbook my friend, I doubt I'd be running into half the issues I did with the PC.

            That being said, it doesn't help with trying to reinstall the game. However for future note since I'm sure someone else may run into issues, I found online a trick to overcome that "Error Launching Game" thing when you put in the disk and install.

            I'm currently installing it now after following these steps.

            1) Put NWN2 DVD in tray, ignore error message
            2) Go to My Computer, rightclick on DVD drive, select Explore, rather than Open NWN2 DVD
            3) Run setup.exe
            4) Feel stupid :noob:
