  • NWN2 performance boost...

I was surfing around CNET earlier and bumped into a link for an MS app called: Access Database Engine , which is recommended for use with .Net and a few others...

I d/led just to see, being used to MS stuff not working too well...but this is an exception and am surprised to not have bumped into it sooner.

NWN2 and most of the CEP style improvements use .Net framework...and since grabbing this Engine, I'd say my performance is up 10-12%

90% of all statistics are made up right on the spot. But seriously, without any kind of hard FPS numbers or recorded loading times it's all subjective.

This forum is really for specific suggestions on Sundren.

Also the Access Database engine is for MS Access databases, for it to have any effect on NWN2 makes no sense because NWN2 doesn't use MS Access databasing, and .NET doesn't actually render the game, the API is Direct3D...
The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Interesting points, of course...I'm not a code-guy, into hardware, so this isn't my area. I hoped it would be a useful tech point.

I can say my IG controls and rendering are noticably smoother and have quicker response time. I don't have to guess where I want an action to land anymore, action is RT and choices end up smoothly where intended...even when the graphics slow at dawn and dusk due to longer shadows. Earlier there was often a 1-2 sec delay.

Can't tell why, but some piece fell into place...the improved controls are like a new game.
