i had a 250 gig western digital hard drive that died on me this year, had it for about 4 years. so i figure i go an get a new one, this time a 500 gig seagate hard drive, and its starting to die on me after about half a year. now it seems i need to go and order another one. but before i go make another mistake, i figure i ask around and see what brand or model i should get. i heard that the less gigs the hard drive has, the less chance of failure. so im looking to get a hard drive that's about 250 gigs to 500 gigs. anyone got any good advice for me? thanks in advance.

Get a 1TB WD for around 80 bucks.
Don't buy seagate. The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

Western Digital = reliable and cheep
I actually run 3 HDs all WD 500 gigs, I stripped 2 of the drives together and its what I save all my games on and everything but my OS is on, and I back up to a 1TB external about once ever 2 weeks, never had any problems in the six months I have ran my rig like this. oh and that external 1 TB....
