  • I've learned....

... that you should not insert rechargable batteries into any devices if they are oddly warm after charging. Even if you've used them dozens of times with the same device after charging them with the same charger.

*looks at the meltz0red (literally!) wireless keyboard, a blistered finger and an utterly 'sploded set of rechargable batteries, eyelid twitching*

On the bright side, I had a reason to get a sleek new ergonomic keyboard for Easter

Now I can put out those typoes in speed AND comfort!

Yikes! Exploding batteries are not allowed. No, sir.

Well, at least you weren't sat on the sofa with your keyboard on your lap at the time...

Wow, what sort of battery were you using? I've never know a AA battery to esplode like that.

Well, it technically didn't explode. When I realized it was melting the plastic of the keyboard, I pried them all out of the casing and tossed them outside the balcony door (that'S when I burned my finger) - the things were sizzling and crackling alarmingly.

When I came back for them, one had popped open and was all blackened.

*edit* and yes, they were AA rechargables. Not sure what brand, tossed them.

*coughs* do not throw 9 volt and button cells out in the same trash bin either. *blush*

*walks away whistling* A three alarm fire call was an over reaction, and no one complained in my department about the extra long weekend.
