Can't really say, it's been a long time and I just vaguely remember it.

You're probably blocking it out due to seeing Tom Jones.

        I enjoyed it!

Reminds me of a time when Tim Burton was good.

Your space odyssey 1901 avatar reminds me of Daniel Day Lewis in 'There Will be Blood'. Upton Sinclair FTW!

Managed to miss both the film and Upton Sinclair's books
I should see/read it though - anything that promotes the importance and power of proper facial hirsuteness is worth seeing.

Still trying to steel myself to read Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged' which is glaring at me from my bookshelf (and being ignored in favour of grinning like an idiot at the pretty pictures in Massive Black Vol.1)

I'd say 'Don't bother', but it's one of those obnoxious political classics which can't really be avoided (like Capital, or The Road to Serfdom).

Yeah, every time I look at those tiny tiny letters crammed into those many many pages I suddenly discover that I've got other, really important, things to do.

I've even lined up some good steampunk (The Immorality Engine), the first three Dresden Case Files books and some freethinking liberal stuff (Tom Hodgkinson's 'How To Be Free') to cleanse my brain afterwards, and I still can't bring myself to start on it.

Much to my surprise I realised I've never read 'Catcher In The Rye' either... Have to change that.

Maybe you could just go read something good instead! Check out China Mieville's Perdido Street Station.

Maybe it's because of the opening lines that have burned themselves into my brain when I read it at school

"If you really want to hear about it...."

Predictably, a high school student under duress will go: "Actually, I don't!" and close the book.

However, as long ago as it was, I remember enjoying it.

Hah, Loved China Mieville's Bas-Lag based stuff - Perdido Street Station was fantastic. Scar and Iron Council, didn't live up to that book, though they were still both great.

Not tried his counter-london stuff (Part of me just can't get over the idea of it being a budget take on Neverwhere) and I'm steering clear of his books on Marxism.

Much as I hate to give you respect Doubtful, I must do so in regard to your comments on Mr Mieville. It seems that even you evil English people can be awesome from time to time. And his Marxist theory of international law is pretty weak.

And as much as it burns me to do so, I must return the giving of respect. Partially for the signature of good songiness, partially for knowing good books and partially for introducing me to the Principia Discordia.
