Bottom line: while game reviewers nowadays have not degraded to the same point as movie critics, they are still a series of people who's opinions are to be taken with a grain of salt or at least not be any more respected or taken seriously than anyone else.

That said, Qinn has the best idea imo. Rent it.

No Peridan, that does not make you a nerd. While I find the 'appeal' of Dante to be somewhat overhyped, the games are pretty well done.

Oh and FF6 was the best! No other opinions need apply :P lol
Kefka is the greatest villain ever.. and I don't mean just in FF, I mean BEST VILLAIN EVER!
Wish spell?! What is this? ****ing Dragonball Z?!

If you want the old ones back get a PSP and play all of them again. They look awesome. I bought a PSP just for those and the AMAZINGLY fun FFVII crisis core. Couldnt put that game down until it was over.

Edit: Sorry I forgot, you'll need DS and PSP to get all the first ones, completely revamped. Though the original and II are on PSP and personally I think are Amazingly well done.

Played one FF game, can't remember which one.

It was a triumph of style over substance, and featured a combat system that seemed to have been freshly plucked from a window cleaning position on the short bus.

It left me with a burning desire never to play them again (but only when I peed).

For the record; we're all nerds.

Doubt, I could say with fair confidence that you played 10 or 10 part 2. All of the other games are the complete opposite - substance but very little graphical amazement except during the video scenes. FF storylines are legendary.
