WinXP Pro 64-bit

Anybody there running the game with this OS? I am having problems with the game, looks like the graphic got too heavy.

I was running it on Vista 64, but I had to format and I installed XP 64 hoping it would get a bit faster ( also, because I think Vista just sucks ), but it just got messed.

And sorry if there is a post about it already, couldn't find it.

As someone who is an industry professional and actually certified on these operating systems I can say it is not advisable to use windows XP x64 ...

The simple reason is that it was a testbed for Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64 ... You would be better off with Vista but if possible move to windows 7 as the memory management is even better. The big thing about Vista/7 is driver support: their 64 bit driver support is superb, I have dug up old, old PCI hardware that I had no clue who made it (company no longer exists), and it downloaded some x64 drivers for it off of Windows Update that worked perfectly.

Vista does not 'suck' regardless of what BS you hear from people who have no clue what they are talking about, as it is a stable, reliable OS I have deployed in several large businesses. Both Vista SP2 and 7 have been performing great so far and I don't have any major gripes either.

Thanks Saulus, I will look forward to buy Win7 x64, if I find them in Brazil, because I'm searching on internet and seems it's not yet avaliable the x64 version.

EDIT: Hey, do you suggest the home premium or the ultimate? I just want to use it for gaming.

If you're just doing some gaming you'll be fine with the Home Premium, you can always upgrade to the Ultimate later as it's setup to be tiered.

My wife's comp has XP Media Center and I have Vista (not sure which one, but it is on a media center comp) and we don't have any problems. Well...other than one of them won't see the other on my network, but that's not too big a problem.

I'm waiting to see how 7 works to decide if I wanna change either over to it later.

There is no sale version of Windows 7 x64 because all versions come with both 32bit and 64bit in the box

I've been running it since release and as an industry n00b with no certifications or experience in providing support for any version of Windows, it's awesome and I love it

Personally I think people don't like Vista because its always fun to jump on the bandwagon.. Ive had x64 since the first month it came out and I am entirely satisfied with vista. (Though in the beginning x64 driver support for select hardware blew.) I will probably get 7 when I build a new rig though.


Edit: And to add what I was really wanted to post before that rant.... As a certified industry professional who incidentally doesnt work in a field even remotely related, In the time I spent on XP 64 in classes I agree it is useless for gaming.

People don't like Vista because it has more resource requirements to function than XP. XP people can get away with 256 megs of ram, but Vista you'd cry. I can say performance-wise Vista 64 is a VAST improvement over XP in every test I've ran with the exact same computer using both OS's. I now run Win 7 x64 Ultimate.

Installed Vista Ultimate(x86) on the gaming box 3 years ago via the copy I received from work. Loved it. When the Win7 RC was free for everyone a while back I was building a new box and installed 7 Ultimate(x64).

Enjoyed XP Pro. Enjoyed Vista Ultimate. Really enjoying Win7 Ultimate.

I already ordered Win7 Home Premium, that's what I could get with the cash I got. Perhaps in the future I may upgrade it to Ultimate if I really need it.
