If brand new to a server and wanting to make a first character that you can use to explore a bit and work the server out. A good first build is sometimes to just make a beefed out barbarian character with a big axe and follow something a bit chaotic neutral like Tempus.
You can go about and pledge your axe to any group, good or evil, they'll always be happy to have the extra meat and if your on your own the extra hit points and good whacks you can deliver will likely save you some deaths.
Once you have your own feel for the place and you know what you want to be playing you can either carry on as you are or start looking to play something a bit more complicated.If honour is truth and a lie is respect, then a secret is sacred.

Yeah, I might join a guild just to meet some people. I just rolled up a cleric of Kelevmor the other day.. haven't seen much action yet but the world seems pretty fitting to my rp style.. I might be staying here for a bit.
